Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade software applications with cloud and microservices architecture.
10+ years software engineering experience with expertise in .NET, cloud platforms, and front-end frameworks, but no defense or simulation experience.
Job Description: • Lead technical discovery with simulation OEMs and defense customers, turning mission requirements and system constraints into clear, executable solution paths • Deliver presentations, demos, and technical workshops that prove capability under operational scrutiny • Design and execute proof-of-concepts that validate performance and integration into customer ecosystems (e.g., Unreal, CDB pipelines, OEM toolchains) • Shape technical responses to RFIs/RFPs and conduct trade studies that position Blackshark as the credible, differentiated choice • Surface technical risks early - performance, interoperability, security, deployment complexity - and resolve them before they become blockers • Work closely with Sales leadership, Product, Engineering, and Delivery to ensure what we propose is technically sound, competitively strong, and ready to ship Requirements: • 5+ years in defense, aerospace, simulation, mission systems, or geo-intelligence in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineer, Field Engineer, Solution Architect, Systems Engineer) • Track record of leading technical discovery and customer evaluations that result in real deployment decisions (not just demos) • Proven ability to shape architectures and technical scope under real constraints: integration, performance, deployment environment, and customer timelines • Hands-on technical capability: able to write code/scripts (Python, C++, or similar) and work comfortably in Windows + Linux environments • Experience producing high-quality technical deliverables: RFI/RFP responses, trade studies, architecture documentation, and technical readouts • Comfortable engaging senior technical stakeholders and program owners — and earning trust through technical credibility • Willingness to travel across North America and occasionally internationally • Experience working with real-time simulation platforms such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or NVIDIA Omniverse • Familiarity with defense and civil simulation standards (e.g., OGC CDB, OpenFlight, DIS, HLA, 3DTiles, OpenUSD) • Experience integrating 3D terrain or geospatial data into simulation or mission-system environments • Working knowledge of GIS tools and formats (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, common raster/vector schemas) • Experience working with simulator OEMs, integrators, or training system providers Benefits: • Work where technical credibility matters. • Be involved in consequential programs. • Solve integration challenges that aren’t trivial. • Shape how we scale. • Operate with autonomy.
