Build and manage operational deployment of sensor and hardware systems, coordinate teams and vendors, develop SOPs and documentation, and ensure rapid troubleshooting and reliability.
Extensive experience in field operations, logistics, deployment, and managing distributed teams; strong systems thinking and process development skills; ability to work autonomously in a high-ambiguity environment.
This role is equity-only until our seed round closes in early Q1 2026** About BlackFrost BlackFrost is building the world’s first Physical Semantic AI (PSAI) platform — a new intelligence architecture that interprets the physical world through multimodal sensor telemetry, a physics-grounded ontology, and real-time semantic inference. Our AuralisIQ infrastructure and powerful FrostBase core form the foundation of a new category called Infrastructure Intelligence Utility™, enabling smarter homes, cities, utilities, and distributed systems. We are backed by academic collaborations with universitys, and deep-tech industry partners. About the Role We are hiring a Director of Operations — AuralisIQ to join our founding team. This is not a corporate ops job. This is a mission-critical execution role. You will build and manage the entire operational layer behind AuralisIQ: • Sensor + gateway deployment planning • Technician and vendor coordination • Hardware logistics and BOM management • Municipal and pilot readiness • Operational documentation and compliance • Reliability processes + rapid field troubleshooting If you want to help build the operational backbone of a national infrastructure intelligence platform from the ground up — this is that role. Responsibilities • Lead all AuralisIQ deployment operations (installation → QA → monitoring). • Coordinate technicians, municipal partners, and vendor networks (e.g., OnPoint). • Own hardware logistics, inventory, BOMs, staging, procurement, and field readiness. • Build SOPs, checklists, operational dashboards, and training materials. • Manage field issues, device onboarding reliability, and rapid troubleshooting. • Prepare operational documentation for investor diligence, pilots, and UC research partners. • Partner with the CEO, CTO, and CIO to translate strategy into crisp execution. • Build the foundation for nationwide scalable deployments post-seed. ⸻ Ideal Experience You don’t need IoT experience — but you must be an elite operator capable of building order from zero. • Field operations, logistics, deployment, PM, or service coordination • Experience managing distributed teams or technicians • Strong systems thinking and operational rigor • Excellent documentation and process-building instincts • Ability to take ownership and execute autonomously • Comfortable moving fast in a deep-tech, high-ambiguity environment Bonus: • IoT, utilities, or municipal deployments • Hardware or field engineering coordination • Startup or founding team experience Compensation This is an equity-only founding role until our seed round closes in early Q1 2026, with meaningful upside as a core operator of a deep-tech infrastructure company. ⸻ 📍 Location Requirement Candidate must reside within 3 hours of Cincinnati or Dayton, Ohio
