Primary Purpose BIO is the premier biotechnology advocacy organization representing biotech companies, industry leaders, and state biotech associations in the United States and more than 35 countries around the globe. BIO members range from biotech start-ups to some of the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies – all united by the same goal: to develop medical and scientific breakthroughs that prevent and fight disease, restore health, and improve patients’ lives. BIO also organizes the BIO International Convention and a series of annual conferences that drive partnerships, investment, and progress within the sector.  This is a fast-paced, collaborative role that requires balancing day-to-day digital campaign management with simultaneous support for BIO’s premier events, including the annual BIO International Convention. The Senior Manager must be energized by dynamic workstreams, able to manage multiple priorities at once, and comfortable operating with urgency while maintaining attention to detail. The ideal candidate thrives in multi-project environments with competing priorities and diverse stakeholders. They can independently lead social media operations, coordinate across teams, and manage external partners with confidence and clarity. This is a communications leadership role with strong digital fluency - requiring creativity, sound judgment, and the ability to execute strategies across BIO’s owned channels. primary Responsibilities Social Media Leadership & Execution * Independently manage and execute BIO’s social media strategy across platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and TikTok. * Develop and publish short-form copy and platform-native content that translates complex messaging into clear, engaging digital communications. * Monitor real-time news and policy developments to inform timely and strategic digital responses. Website & Digital Platform Oversight * Oversee week-to-week website content responsibilities, including editorial updates, issue page coordination, and campaign integration. * Ensure digital properties reflect organizational priorities, particularly during high-visibility moments such as Convention and major advocacy campaigns cycles. Agency & Vendor Management * Direct and manage external agency partners (creative, paid media, and digital execution), ensuring deliverables are on time, on strategy, and on brand. * Serve as the internal digital lead for day-to-day coordination with agency teams. Integrated Campaign Support * Support development and execution of integrated advocacy and communications campaigns. * Translate policy and advocacy messaging into effective digital formats. * Coordinate across Communications, Government Relations, Policy, and Membership teams to ensure transparent workflows and unified messaging. Performance & Operational Management * Manage the Communications team’s master editorial calendar. * Track digital performance metrics and provide actionable insights to leadership. * Ensure strong project management discipline and attention to detail. * Support reporting needs for senior leadership and key stakeholders. EDUCATION and Experience * 5+years of experience in communications, public affairs, or digital strategy;  * Experience working within a trade association, public affairs, or member-driven organization preferred. * Agency experience is a plus Knowledge, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s) Email, Advocacy & Analytics Platforms * Email marketing systems (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot, or similar) * Web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics/GA4) * Basic CRM or member/advocacy database management (segmentation, lists, tagging) Content Management & Publishing * Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, or similar) * Civic and stakeholder management platforms (Quorum, VoterVoice, or similar) *  Social media publishing and scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite, or similar) * Familiarity with basic HTML formatting within CMS platforms General Skills * Strong short-form copywriting skills and ability to adapt messaging for different digital platforms. * Confident coordinating with agencies and external vendors. * High energy, collaborative, and proactive team contributor. * Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. * Creative instincts and familiarity with emerging social platforms and formats. physical requirements * Sitting/Standing:  Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods (sitting at a desk, standing at a counter).  * Vision: Close vision for computer work and detailed tasks.  * Fine Motor Skills: Using a mouse, keyboard, and other small office tools.  * Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during events. * Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching during events. * Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds if necessary travel requirements * Travel up to 25%, including support for major events such as the BIO International Convention. work environment * Hybrid in office, Tuesday- Thursday This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and responsibilities can be expected to evolve over time to meet changing business needs.
