Director of Communications & Content Marketing Are you a strategic communications and content marketing leader ready to shape the story of a mission-driven nonprofit? The Bill of Rights Institute is seeking a Director of Communications & Content Marketing to own messaging, storytelling, and communications strategy across the organization. BRI is dedicated to inspiring students to understand, appreciate, and exercise their constitutional rights and civic responsibilities. In this role, you will elevate the organization’s voice, supporting the Civics Innovation Lab, development growth, and national program expansion. To succeed as the Director of Communications & Content Marketing, you should have: • 8–12+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or content leadership with demonstrated ownership of messaging, narrative, and brand voice across multiple platforms. • Solid expertise in content strategy, editorial planning, storytelling, SEO/GEO best practices, and earned media or PR initiatives. • Proven people management experience with the ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate cross-functionally in complex nonprofit or mission-driven organizations. • Excellent writing, editing, and strategic communication skills, with experience supporting executive thought leadership, social media strategy, and agency partnerships; ability to travel as needed for events or media engagements. Your responsibilities as the Director of Communications & Content Marketing will include: • Develop and execute BRI’s earned media, PR, and agency partnerships to amplify visibility and brand recognition. • Oversee the editorial and marketing calendar, setting content priorities across campaigns, initiatives, and social channels. • Drive SEO-optimized content strategy to maximize discoverability and engagement across digital platforms. • Lead and mentor the communications team, building capacity and supporting professional growth. • Partner with Development and program teams to craft donor-facing storytelling, campaigns, and thought leadership content that supports fundraising and organizational objectives.
