The Senior Director, Network Learning and Development is a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) team and serves as the national lead for designing, implementing, and continuously strengthening a comprehensive professional learning strategy that equips local agency staff and volunteers across 230+ agencies within the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) network of agencies. As a direct report to the Chief Agency Growth Officer, this role ensures the network of BBBS Agencies has access to high-quality learning experiences, training, and practical resources that drive program quality, operational excellence, and mission impact. The Senior Director, Network Learning & Development collaborates closely with the national office departments, agency leaders, and subject-matter experts to identify learning needs, design and deliver meaningful education and training, and steward a cohesive learning ecosystem that supports diverse roles, experience levels, and organizational contexts. FSLA Status: Full Time, Exempt Location: Continental United States (100% Remote) Travel: Approximately 20-30% Essential Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Planning • Develop and lead the national strategy for professional learning, training, and capacity-building for local agencies, board members, volunteers, and families. • Conduct ongoing needs assessments to understand emerging skill gaps, learning priorities, and challenges across BBBS Agencies. • Establish short- and long-term plans, success metrics, and continuous improvement cycles for learning initiatives that strengthen operational effectiveness and promote consistent, high-quality service delivery. • Provide leadership and thought partnership trends in adult learning, workforce development, and network capacity building. Learning Systems & Resource Development • Oversee the design and continuous improvement the learning ecosystem, including onboarding structures, role-specific development pathways (e.g. new agency leaders and emerging leaders), and self-directed learning opportunities for the BBBS network of affiliate agencies. • Lead the creation and curation of high-quality training materials, curricula, toolkits, and job aids to support BBBS agency staff in a wide range of functions from program delivery and volunteer support to agency operations and use of data systems. • Partner with BBBSA departments and external subject matter experts to ensure all learning content reflects organizational strategy, standards, values, and evidence-based practices. • Leverage technology and manage the learning management system to provide customer-centric, data-informed learning experiences with easy access to relevant resources • Manage systems to monitor data, assess training outcomes, and report participant progress to support ongoing learning and continuous improvement of learning experiences and growth in agency capacity Program Delivery & Facilitation • Oversee the development and delivery of learning experiences, national training events, workshops, webinars, and conferences to support the BBBS network. • Serve as a senior facilitator and presenter for key national sessions, leadership development programs, and network-wide learning engagements. • Build systems for agency-to-agency peer learning, sharing, and communities of practice that support continuous improvement across the network. Collaboration & Network Engagement • Build strong, trust-based relationships with subject matter experts and agency staff to understand capacity-building needs and co-develop learning experiences. • Collaborate with national office partners to ensure training supports broader network strategies and to support adoption and implementation of learning initiatives. • Manage vendor relationships related to technology, training, facilitation, and instructional design. People Management • Recruit, train, retain, and cultivate professional development of direct reports. • Create a dynamic, supportive, and effective team that is impactful across the BBBSA and the Big Brothers Big Sisters Network. • Lead and manage resources (people and capital) that retain and cultivate positive, measurable success. • Monitor progress against performance targets; implement countermeasures as needed. Education, Skills & Related Work Experience Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Organizational Development, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. • Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Instructional Design, or a related discipline preferred. • Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree. Required Experience: • 8–10+ years of experience designing and delivering professional learning in a nonprofit, education, or federated network environment. • Demonstrated success developing adult learning strategies and creating scalable training for diverse audiences. • Experience managing teams, collaborating across departments, and influencing stakeholders without direct authority. • Advanced understanding of instructional design, adult learning theories, learning science, curriculum development, and learning evaluation. • Proficiency with LMS platforms, e-learning tools, and design software (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Audacity, Camtasia, or equivalent). • Familiarity with blended learning models. • Excellent communication, facilitation, and project management skills. • Ability to translate program standards, research, and policies into practical guidance for practitioners. Preferred Experience: • Knowledge of youth mentoring, positive youth development, and child safety best practices. • Expertise in change management and capacity-building for nonprofits or educational systems. • Experience with Learning Management System administration (Cornerstone and/or Docebo preferred), including transitioning from one LMS to another.
