Job Description: BHMG - Occupational Medicine Fern Valley Full Time Referral Coordinator The Referral Coordinator works with the patient and outside services to schedule specialty services under the order of the physician. The referral service provides appointment, patient contact by telephone and mail to verify date, time, location and any special instructions. The check out service includes scheduling any appointments for follow up care, including laboratory tests, follow up visits for laboratory results, next visit appointment and provide verbal and written appointment date and time and any special instructions. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a summary of the major functions of this position. They may perform other duties, both major and minor, which may not be mentioned below, as well as specific functions may change from time to time. Respect/promote patient rights, maintain confidentiality, and exhibit friendly/helpful behaviors. Interact with patients and outside specialty services to set appointment dates and times and provide confirmation and special instructions to the patient; complete forms; referrals; pre-certification documentation. Duties include scheduling, answering phone, filing, copying, completing obtaining demographic information, updating charts, assuring fee tickets reflect services perform. Position requires highly organized and experienced person who can maintain a cheerful and professional manner in high stress situations. Respond to emergencies in appropriate manner and according to policy. Follow all OSHA and departmental policies; perform quality control, record data as necessary. All departmental/staff/operational problems reported to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.
