Summary The Distribution Pharmacy Technician is a certified pharmacy technician who will work in a fast paced, high-volume facility with large scale automation. This role is accountable for medication fulfillment, distribution, and inventory management under pharmacist supervision and functions in a multi-skilled environment providing excellent service through high quality performance which requires the application of teamwork, leadership, and flexibility. The Distribution Pharmacy Technician is required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with Baptist Health System policies, federal and state pharmacy regulations, and applicable accrediting body standards. This position will assist in numerous aspects of ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution. Job Description: Baptist Health is looking for a Certified Pharmacy Technician Distribution Specialist to join our team at the Central Pharmacy, LaGrange, KY! Fills inventory replenishment orders for hospitals, community pharmacies, clinics, outpatient infusion centers and other BH affiliates. Performs all tasks associated with medication warehouse distribution including but not limited to medication receiving, scanning, medication repackaging, distribution, order fulfillment, packing, auditing, and shipping medications to BH facility affiliates under pharmacist supervision. Performs station inspections for assigned areas, checks in and stocks ordered medications. Performs necessary calculations accurately. Supports the pharmacist in maintaining the security of medications. Assists in the maintenance of pharmacy automation systems pursuant to state & federal regulations and BH policies and procedures. Restocks returned medication in a timely manner and assists pharmacy management in monitoring waste to identify areas for potential improvement/cost savings. Maintains compliance with cold chain and room temperature medication packaging requirements based on seasonal pack-out changes. Assists in training new staff when assigned. Implements efficient workflow practices to minimize or avoid product out dates. Supports and assists with inventory management processes including but not limited to medication ordering, receiving, stocking, restocking, return, and physical inventory management with the help of pharmacy automation. Reviews received stock from vendors/wholesalers and electronically acknowledges receipt prior to stocking them in the pharmacy. Promptly notifies buyer of any discrepancies. Maintains proficiency with pharmacy automation technology. Performs routine medication cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory levels. Scans received inventory to ensure bar code compliance and notifies a supervising pharmacist to ensure EHR/ADC notification of any identified discrepancies. Completes required training and competency assessments to maintain appropriate knowledge and awareness of job-specific responsibilities in compliance with policies and regulations. Responsible for professional development and sustaining a working knowledge of applicable federal/state laws and regulations. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalency is required. Previous hospital pharmacy or central pharmacy experience preferred. If not currently registered, the registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy will be required upon hire (only an application and fee). Nationally Certified as a pharmacy technician.
