Greet patients, manage front desk operations, schedule appointments, verify insurance, process payments, and support optometric technician duties after training.
Prior front desk or customer service experience, strong communication and organizational skills, dependability, and willingness to learn clinical support tasks.
Locations: Oakton, VA and Herndon, VA Job Type: Full-Time (4–5 days per week) Starting Pay: $17-18/hour Benefits: Medical, dental, life insurance, 401k with match, 10 days PTO, your birthday off (paid), six paid holidays, generous employee eyewear and exam discounts About the Role We’re looking for a Receptionist to be the welcoming face and voice of our practice. You’ll make patients feel at ease the moment they walk in, keep the front desk running smoothly, and ensure the entire visit is seamless from start to finish. While your primary responsibilities are front desk and patient coordination, you’ll also have the chance to train as an Optometric Technician — learning clinical support skills that expand your career opportunities in eye care. What You’ll Do • Greet patients and provide a warm, professional first impression • Answer calls, schedule appointments, and manage reminders • Confirm insurance eligibility and help patients understand their coverage • Check patients in/out and process payments accurately • Maintain an organized, welcoming front desk and reception area • Train on diagnostic equipment and pre-testing procedures • Support the optometrist by preparing exam rooms and recording patient histories • Assist patients with contact lens training and orders (after training) • Jump in to help with other office needs as the day requires What We’re Looking For • Prior experience in a front desk, customer service, or retail/hospitality role. Clinical experience is a plus but not required. We’ll train you on eye care. • A friendly, professional communicator who puts patients at ease • Dependable and punctual — someone who can be counted on daily • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks at once • Tech-comfortable and willing to learn new systems quickly • Excited to grow into technician duties with training provided Schedule • We keep your schedule predictable — you’ll know exactly which days you’re in each office • Four shifts per week at Oakton with an hour lunch break: • Monday: 9am–6pm • Tuesday: 10am–7pm • Wednesday: Closed >>> Cover at Herndon instead from 9am—6pm • Thursday: 9am—6pm • Friday: 8am–5pm • Saturday: Closed Why You’ll Love Working Here • Higher base pay instead of unpredictable commission games. • No sales quotas or corporate scripts. We care about the right solution, not how many add-ons you sell. • You’ll work directly with the practice owners, not a distant corporate office. • 10 days PTO, six paid holidays, plus a paid birthday off each year • Full medical, dental, and life insurance benefits, plus employee discounts on premium eyewear and lenses • 401k with match • Clear growth pathway into technician duties with hands-on training • Real opportunity to make a difference in patients’ lives every day If you’re dependable, patient-focused, and ready to grow, we’d love to meet you. Apply now and take the first step in building your career in eye care. Work Location: In person
