The VP of Building and Facilities provides strategic leadership and oversight for all Bethany Christian Services owned and leased properties nationwide. This role ensures optimal space utilization, brand consistency, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and sound financial stewardship in facilities-related decisions. The VP of Building and Facilities also oversees the vendor and contract vetting, risk mitigation, legal coordination, and timely renewals are properly executed. This individual will lead cross-functional collaboration and serve as a key advisor to the Executive Leadership Team on matters related to physical infrastructure and organizational risk tied to our buildings and facilities, nationwide. This position is expected to function effectively with little supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee the functionality, maintenance, and operational consistency of all Bethany-owned and leased facilities across multiple states; • Serve as project lead for new site acquisitions, relocations, renovations, and facility closures, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and strategic priorities; • Coordinate with landlords on lease matters, proactively addressing property-related issues and keeping executive leadership informed of lease terms, renewal risks, and funding-linked commitments; • Develop a strategic roadmap to align facility environments with branding standards and organizational values, ensuring consistent presentation across all sites; • Partner with Branch Directors to minimize operational disruptions related to facility maintenance and repairs; • Lead emergency preparedness planning across all facilities, including evacuation procedures, weather protocols, and equipment safety; • Manage storage and archiving of records in compliance with agency policies and licensing requirements; • Oversee the full lifecycle of organizational contracts-including development, review, routing, and signature-to ensure legal compliance, timely renewal, and uninterrupted service delivery; • Collaborate with Legal, Human Resources, Finance, and Operations to embed agency safeguards, appropriate out clauses, and risk mitigation measures, especially for contracts tied to time-limited funding; • Monitor contract timelines to prevent lapses, ensuring timely amendments or interim coverage during negotiations; • Develop and implement a vendor vetting and credentialing process that promotes consistent quality, accountability, and alignment with agency standards; • Coordinate with HQ departments to fulfill all contract requirements, including funder reporting and compliance; • Partner with PQI and Operations to prepare for funder-initiated contract monitoring and evaluation activities; • Supervise direct reports and/or contractors related to facilities and contract administration; • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership regarding facilities strategy and risk mitigation; • Establish KPIs and performance standards across facilities and contract functions; • Develop and manage departmental budget and capital improvement plans in collaboration with Finance; • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department; • May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event; • Complete other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Public Administration, or related field required; master's degree preferred; • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in facilities oversight, real estate, or contract management in a multi-site or nationwide organization; • Experience working in nonprofit, social service, or government sectors, highly preferred; • Proven ability to negotiate lease terms, manage vendor performance, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery; • Familiarity with nonprofit funding models and facility cost planning tied to public contracts; • Strong project management and organizational skills; • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage detailed operations; • Understanding of risk, compliance, and legal frameworks related to facilities and contracts; • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at the executive level; • Proficient in MS Office Suite and contract management software solutions; • Willingness to travel to agency sites nationwide as needed; • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany; • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage; • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries; • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
