JOB PURPOSE: Our Business Development Representative will leverage various sales and communication skills to identify, qualify, contact, convert, grow, and maintain profitable market opportunities for the sale of assigned company products, including but not limited to; utility pole products, agricultural wood products, marine and foundation piling, and industrial round stock inside markets. The position will play a key role in the productization of residuals. This role is crucial in driving direct sales efforts and supporting the overall sales strategy to achieve business growth and customer satisfaction. They will be expected to work as part of one team to embrace the company’s mission of radically loving and influencing lives, actively demonstrating the values of excellence, stewardship, and entrepreneurial spirit in both behavior and attitude. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: * Cold calls and follow-up calls to potential customers. * Responsible for the sales effort to an existing list of customers and prospects. * Understand client needs and offer solutions and support. * Qualify leads from digital campaigns, conferences, references, tradeshows, etc. * Collaborate with marketing to research potential leads from business directories, web searches, or digital resources. * Build pipelines with channel partners and team members to close sales. * Maintain a CRM database of prospective client information. * Handle projects related to new and existing customers, such as analysis and vendor setup forms. * Develop and maintain vendor relationships to support sales opportunities and activities. * Track weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance and sales metrics to report back to the manager. * Fulfill all sales processing duties for assigned and generated accounts. * Represent the company at regional and national trade shows/expositions. * Create and present company sales presentations to existing customers and marketing qualified leads (MQL), in person or virtually. * Accept and manage follow-throughs for all MQLs. * Manage MQL handoff process to Outside Sales Representatives. * Oversee successful delivery, from order placement through order close-out. * Provide marketing team with reports tied to BLP marketing campaigns. * Learn CRM and execute programmatic campaigns directly within the CRM. * Maintain data hygiene and pipeline reporting function for Sales leadership & SLT. * Implement surcharges, price adjustments, and indexing for assigned accounts. * Forecast sales for all assigned accounts. * Serve as the primary 24-hour contact for assigned accounts during Storm Emergency Response. * Collaborate with all departments to resolve customer issues promptly. * Perform physical inventory count when needed. * Participate in continuing education classes periodically. * Contact customers for additional information or issue resolution during the quote or ordering process. * Gather data for reporting purposes and ensure quoting accuracy. * Follow up on customer applications and accurately enter them into the system. * Complete vendor forms and delegate questions to the correct people for assistance, per the vendor questionnaire manual. * Monitor internal reports to ensure all orders are processed correctly. * Attend weekly shipping meetings. * Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude, respectful behavior, and alignment with the company mission and values. * Other duties as assigned This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; the employee may be required to perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as needed or requested to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum of a two-year associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred. Experience: Previous experience in an outbound call center, business development, inside sales, or related industry preferred. At least one year of customer service or sales experience required. SKILLS BASED REQUIREMENTS: * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with Windows operation. * Experience with CRM Systems. * Proficient with basic math and familiar with metric and American (or English) Standard systems. * Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and develop realistic action plans with detailed follow-through. Ability to stay on task without direct supervision. * Demonstrates interpersonal oral communication skills by speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Written communication skills are clear, with the audience identified and the message defined in an understandable format. * Take initiative in problem-solving. * Ability to create original and unique ideas. * Able to handle a high volume of cold calls with tenacity and maintain a positive attitude. Use interpersonal skills to build rapport and relationships with diplomacy and tact. * Can diffuse high-tension situations to achieve comfortable results. * Willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, and make timely decisions with limited direction after initial training. * Ability to learn and comprehend new technical skills and knowledge. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to use the computer for extended periods of time in a sitting or standing position. Ability to work under time constraints and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. When visiting a plant, the employee will need to be able to be on their feet for an extended period. Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving products, minimum of 25 lbs. Exposure to varying types of climates. Outside environment can be dusty & noisy.
