The AI/ML Engineer will build, train, and optimize ML models to support the Defense Health Agency’s data governance and automation objectives. They will also implement AI/ML solutions for metadata management and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment with mission needs.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a Master’s preferred, and strong programming expertise in Python, Java, or JavaScript. Relevant cloud or ML certifications and experience with ML frameworks and cloud ML platforms are also required.

(Military Veterans and HUBZone candidates are highly encouraged to apply) Role Overview: BDR Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML Engineer) focusing on integrating AI/ML capabilities across diverse and complex data ecosystems. This position will focus on integrating AI/ML capabilities into the Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) ecosystem, particularly related to the Enterprise Data Catalog (DHA-EDC) and the Data Mesh prototype maturation activities. The position is primarily remote with travel as requested. It requires availability during EST business hours. This position requires US Citizenship with SECRET Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one. Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to): Build, train, and optimize ML models to support DHA’s data governance and automation objectives. Implement AI/ML solutions for metadata management, business process automation, and data product lifecycle testing. Deploy and maintain ML pipelines with automated monitoring, retraining, and governance compliance. Integrate AI/ML systems with enterprise data platforms and self-service analytics tools. Collaborate with SMEs, data engineers, and stewards to ensure models align with mission needs. Document models, workflows, and compliance procedures for reproducibility and audits. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred). Relevant cloud or ML certifications (AWS Machine Learning Specialty Google Vertex AI, Azure AI Engineer, or equivalent). Strong programming expertise in Python, Java or JavaScript Proficiency with ML frameworks, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn. Experience with cloud ML platforms, AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, Azure ML. Familiarity with MLOps pipelines (CI/CD for ML model monitoring, version control) Understanding of metadata harvesting, data catalogs, and automation workflows. Knowledge of APIs, microservices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) Strong grasp of data security and compliance requirements (NIST, FedRAMP, DoD STIGs). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, including IT, clinical, administrator and vendor stakeholders. Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance requirement Ability to obtain SECRET security clearance Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies: Active SECRET security clearance Familiarity with DoD/DHA compliance frameworks (NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, RMF, STIGs). Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment. Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Experience working on federal government contracts, preferably centered around healthcare. In addition, U.S Citizenship is required .
