We are looking for a UX Program Manager to join our team, working with our client, a prominent Google team. This is a senior role, and we are looking for someone with significant experience. In this remote position, you will be the main point of contact for Google UX stakeholders, managing external UX vendor teams and ensuring their success. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the user-centered design process and extensive experience working with and guiding UX designers and researchers. Experience with Google is a bonus. Responsibilities Vendor Team Management: You will oversee a team of external UX vendors (contractors), acting as their main point of contact. You'll lead the vendor onboarding process, ensuring teams have the necessary tools and context to succeed. You will also coach and mentor team members, helping them navigate challenges. Your role is to manage and enable, not to execute the UX work yourself. UX Program Operations: As needed, you will manage the complex, cross-functional operations of UX projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring they are on time, on budget, and meet quality standards for the platform. This includes developing and managing project plans, tracking progress, and proactively managing risks and dependencies. You will facilitate communication between vendors and internal teams to ensure a seamless workflow. Qualifications Experience Managing Design Teams: You have 5+ years of experience in a vendor-focused role. You have a proven track record of managing the performance of multiple external vendor teams. You have a strong background in providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship, and are skilled in manager competencies such as career development and performance reviews. Strong UX Background: You have a deep understanding of the user-centered design process and UX methodologies. You have extensive experience working with and guiding UX designers and researchers to ensure high-quality, impactful project outcomes. Proactive Program Management: You can expertly identify potential risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and help teams navigate complex, ambiguous challenges with a clear path forward. Exceptional Communication: You are a dynamic communicator who can clearly articulate project goals, progress, and value to diverse stakeholders, facilitating alignment and buy-in across teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a vendor or contractor at a large company, or extensive experience managing external vendor teams. Familiarity with the product lifecycle and experience with platform-level UX challenges. Experience working with Google or other large technology companies. Expertise with Agile project management methodologies.
