Senior SAP Order Management (OM) Engineer (SAP ABAP | ECC + S/4HANA) We’re seeking a Senior SAP Order Management (OM) Engineer to support and enhance a highly customized SAP-based Order Management ecosystem. This role is critical to ensuring end-to-end stability and performance across the order lifecycle, including order processing, routing logic, delivery commitments, fulfillment outcomes, and downstream integrations. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a complex, highly integrated enterprise environment, and who can connect technical SAP behavior to real operational/business impact. What You’ll Do • Own and enhance SAP-driven Order Management (OM) functionality across a complex order ecosystem • Build and support solutions in SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, with a strong focus on ABAP development • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to: • Expected delivery dates / delivery commitments • Order routing and sourcing logic • Fulfillment outcomes and downstream process impact • Identify why key system outputs change when upstream inputs shift (ex: commitment dates, sourcing outcomes, routing decisions) • Partner cross-functionally across the order-to-cash lifecycle, with touchpoints including: • Supply chain operations • Transportation/logistics • Customer service / experience • Finance (FI), billing, and external channels • Create and maintain operational documentation including: • Runbooks • System/process diagrams • Support procedures and knowledge transfer materials • Support modernization efforts tied to an upcoming S/4HANA brownfield migration, with emphasis on clean core principles and reducing long-term customization risk • Provide senior-level technical leadership while balancing project delivery and production support Required Qualifications • 5+ years of SAP development experience, with senior-level capability • Strong hands-on expertise in SAP ABAP in enterprise environments • Proven experience supporting Order Management / Order-to-Cash processes in SAP • Experience working in SAP ECC (S/4HANA exposure strongly preferred) • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to connect technical issues to business impact • Comfortable operating in a highly customized SAP environment (not “vanilla SAP”) • Ability to clearly articulate prior work with specific examples, such as: • transaction codes used • programs/enhancements built or modified • issues resolved and outcomes delivered Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting S/4HANA brownfield migrations or modernization programs • Working knowledge of AWS (baseline familiarity is sufficient; depth is a plus) • Experience supporting highly integrated enterprise landscapes with many upstream/downstream dependencies • Understanding of SAP integrations with external systems (ex: CRM platforms, ecommerce channels, finance platforms) Location / Work Style • Preference for candidates located in or near Chicago or Milwaukee (hybrid/remote flexibility available) • Remote candidates must be open to occasional travel, including at least one onsite interview step • Standard working hours are aligned to Central Time (CT)
