Job Title: MARKET OPERATIONS ANALYST (II OR SENIOR) Posting Start Date: 1/21/26 Job Description: • *POSITION PURPOSE** • *This position is located at our Headquarters location in Bismarck, ND and is not a remote position.** • *This position is open to varying levels, based on experience.** Models, analyzes, quantifies, maintains business use of market interface programs, and reports the technical, environmental, and economic conditions of Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s (BEPC) various assets, commodities, short and mid-term positions, associated risks, and general commodity market intelligence. Assists in drafting standard operating procedures and provide input and recommended updates for continuous process improvement. • *ESSENTIAL DUTIES** + Manages the system wide generator outages and testing processes for all owned and purchased generation. Maintains effective communication and coordination with applicable marketplaces, Operations, traders, and other parties to optimize plant availability and flexibility. + Provides analysis used for operational involvement in Basin Electric resource coordination, the Missouri Basin Power Project participants, North Iowa Municipal Electric Cooperative Association, and other marketing programs. Compiles and presents data for all marketing generation programs. + Works with finance, performance engineers, and Operations to review and update unit physical parameters and costs for purposes of maintaining adherence to market protocols and associated BEPC unit offer strategies. + Coordinates unit offer optimization of unit offers and strategy implementation in the applicable marketplace by qualitative and quantitative analysis and through the understanding of power marketing processes and regional protocols. + Maintains business functions of market facing software applications to create and manage unit offer strategy development and various automated processes using associated market user interfaces. + Interfaces with SPP’s Market Monitoring Unit as a BEPC representative by interacting with offer questions as well as mitigated offer data updates. + Monitors and maintains software tools to comply with environmental operation constraints. + Provides feedback on unit offer strategies, prices, and parameters for long-term energy position modeling. + Develops and administers tours and training for employees, BEPC members, and interested outside parties. Provides training with plant operators and internal marketing staff to increase their understanding and relay changes of market operations. + Assists with Basin Electric’s on-going seasonal, annual, and long-term commodity position analysis for all power markets inclusive of physical and financial hedging. Serves as an Energy Markets representative on the financial forecasting model development team. + Coordinates with Resource Planning and other internal departments on related resource and market reporting and energy position reporting forecasting. + Performs technical and economic evaluations of various short-term and long-term power supply alternatives, including short-term shutdown procedures, contract review, or unit offer adjustments. + Perform other duties as assigned. • *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** + A bachelor’s degree in economics, business, mathematics, statistics, engineering, energy management, finance, accounting, information technology, or a related field; and 3 years of experience in related coordination, power marketing, operations, and/or financial or quantitative analysis; or + A related associate’s degree and 5 years of experience in related coordination, power marketing, operations, and/or financial or quantitative analysis. + A valid driver’s license. + Occasional travel required. • *PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS** This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending/reaching, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds.
