Director of Marketing, Communications, and Recruitment BARR Center – Director of Marketing, Communications, and Recruitment Location: Flexible, with significant travel required Job Type: 1.0 FTE Description: The BARR Center Director of Marketing, Communications, and Recruitment has the responsibility to oversee the work of BARR Center’s marketing, communications, and recruitment. The position also provides supervision to BARR Center staff as assigned. The Director of Marketing, Communications, and Recruitment will report to the BARR Center Chief Operating Officer. Responsibilities include: Oversee Marketing and Communications • Provide supervision to team members and contractors • Coordinate tasks and responsibilities for effective external communications of the BARR Center, including the conference, newsletter, website, social media, and any external consultant engagements • Conduct market research and evaluate current branding and messaging for continuous improvement • Maintain consistency and quality of messages, including the enforcement of deadlines and efficiency for the marketing and communications team • Track trends, strategies, and technologies to monitor the market, competition, and brand strategy • Oversee advertising and lead generation campaigns • Provide technical and creative support for the creation of presentations for the conference, team retreats, and other meetings • Coordinate tasks and responsibilities for effective internal communications of the BARR Center • Collaborate at a high level across departments to ensure that marketing and communications are in alignment with the organization’s long-term goals, and that other teams have the tools and resources necessary for success • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, agencies, and customers • Direct large and complex initiatives and projects for the organization, developing a project plan, coordinating with others, and providing operational leadership and support to ensure projects meet expectations and goals for the organization Oversee Recruitment • Establish and maintain relationships with schools and school districts by identifying and building relationships with key individuals and organizations. • Design and facilitate a recruitment plan to expand the number of schools implementing BARR. • Prioritize and plan activities and processes for maximizing recruitment opportunities and the growth of the BARR network, including the use of consultative selling techniques and by using a variety of tactics to overcome barriers to entry, objections, and delays. • Ensure that recruitment objectives are consistently attained or exceeded. • Monitor sales data and present/communicate this data to the BARR leadership team. • Attend and exhibit at national, regional, and local conferences as a part of recruitment strategy. • Engage strong account management tactics designed to maintain a high level of contact with key active relationships. • Identify and respond to requests for proposals to bring the BARR model to schools, districts, and states. • Support schools and districts in identifying and applying for funding opportunities that may help them bring the BARR model to their school(s). • Lead the development of proposals on behalf of the BARR Center in response to district and/or funder requests (RFPs). • Work with other members of the BARR team to serve as subject matter experts to support recruitment opportunities when needed. • Support special projects related to BARR scaling efforts, as needed. • Assist with the development of content and collateral for marketing/sales tools. • Work with the Communications team to develop presentation strategy, process and procedures. • Serve as the liaison to the HBFF sales and contracting team. • Stay current on the BARR model, market trends, competition, and successful recruitment strategies. Supervision • Facilitate the selection, placement and development of possible full-time employees, part-time, on-call, employees, and team managers. • Conduct one-on-one performance communication sessions with direct reports to measure progress on goals, development plans, and provide feedback on progress on a regular basis, including formal annual performance reviews • Maintain current job descriptions for all supervised positions • Hold staff accountable to organizational philosophy, strategies, policies, and procedures • Create a culture of collaboration and respect by balancing the needs of the employees with the needs of the organization and its customers • Role model positive collaboration between internal and external work groups • Serve as an ambassador for the organization in everything done as a representative of the BARR Center Qualifications: • Education professional with extensive experience in a school role. • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills. • Collaborative and team focused. • Passionate about BARR’s mission to improve education for all students.
