Highlights: W 1200-1800 T-F-S 0600-1800 Summary: The Security Officer II shall protect Baptist Health patients, employees, and properties by patrolling the facility grounds, responding to emergencies, assisting patients, employees and visitors, controlling vehicular and foot traffic, and operating security CCTV. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role. Education / Experience: High School graduate or equivalent required. Prior civilian or military law enforcement experience preferred. POST certification or DD-214 required. Annual Firearms qualification with a minimum score of 70% or higher. Valid Alabama Drivers License and acceptable driving record required. License / Certification: Pistol permit required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. • Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization. • Good oral and written communication skills. • Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations. • Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Position requires the officer to carry an approved handgun and qualify annually with a proficiency score of 70% or higher. Position requires the officer to wear an approved duty belt with issued equipment each work day for the entirety of the shift. Requires sitting for 15% of the workday and walking 60% of the workday and standing 25% of the workday. Able to run, bend and climb stairs. Frequent use of hands and large muscle groups. This position requires constant use of physical movement and exertion. May be required to push disabled vehicles out of traffic. There is frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Requires frequent lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Noise levels high around some equipment. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious disease. Work required in restricted areas occasionally. Working indoors 50% of the time. Exposed to various types of weather conditions 40% of the time. Other duties as assigned by supervision.
