Bantam Communications is seeking a highly strategic Director of Communications to spearhead our mission of accelerating advanced energy adoption across the United States. In this role, you will design and execute integrated communications strategies that build durable support for renewable energy initiatives across diverse political and cultural landscapes. You will lead multi-channel campaigns spanning message development, paid and earned media, and stakeholder engagement to influence public opinion, shape policy environments, and mobilize communities in support of renewable energy. You’ll work with both developers and philanthropic partners to manage client relationships, provide strategic counsel, and align campaign execution with the broader goal of transforming America’s energy future. Responsibilities Campaign Strategy and Execution: Design and implement comprehensive communications campaigns that positively influence public sentiment and advance project and policy objectives, working closely with partners to define goals, recommend tactics, and ensure strategic alignment throughout campaign execution. Message Development: Craft compelling storylines and message frames, translating complex concepts and initiatives into clear, impactful messaging that will resonate with diverse stakeholders. Multi-Channel Communications: Design and oversee multi-channel communication strategies and campaigns across U.S. markets, including message and narrative development, paid advertising, media relations, organic social media, and video storytelling to drive measurable outcomes. Paid Media Strategy: Develop and execute paid media strategy, including budget allocation, analytics, channel selection, and campaign optimization to maximize ROI and reach target audiences effectively. Rapid Response: Implement successful rapid-response programs to address emerging challenges and capitalize on strategic opportunities in fast-moving media environments. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with partners and stakeholders to craft narratives and communications content that aligns with their voices and experiences. Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams and provide strategic counsel on industry trends, while fostering collaboration between departments to achieve organizational objectives. Team Management: Manage and mentor team members who plan and execute digital and traditional communications campaigns, providing guidance and professional development opportunities. Performance Optimization: Establish and optimize communication workflows, performance metrics, and reporting systems to track campaign effectiveness and guide strategic decisions. Minimum Qualifications 7+ years communications experience, with significant time in campaigns, public affairs, and/or political communications roles Proven track record managing integrated communications programs that incorporate messaging, paid media, earned media, digital engagement, and stakeholder outreach Ability to cultivate and leverage relationships with media and political influencers. Proven success tailoring communications strategies to resonate across rural, suburban, and urban communities with diverse political and cultural contexts. Track record of implementing successful rapid-response programs Experience with digital campaign tools required Experience managing and leading communications teams, including overseeing staff, contractors, and cross-functional collaboration Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to craft compelling content for different audiences including community stakeholders, elected officials, and media Comfort working in a fully remote, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment, with ability to manage multiple concurrent campaigns and priorities Preferred Qualifications Background in renewable energy helpful but not required Experience working on ballot initiatives, multi-state campaigns, or issue-based advocacy in politically diverse environments Familiarity with permitting processes, regulatory environments, and stakeholder dynamics in utility-scale energy infrastructure development contexts Experience supporting both corporate clients and philanthropic or nonprofit partners, with ability to align mission-driven goals with results-oriented campaign execution Familiarity with leveraging AI-driven tools for message testing, audience targeting, and campaign optimization Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We do not sponsor work visas at this time. Compensation This is a full-time, exempt position. The annual salary hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $130,000. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as (but not limited to) location, level, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
