Full Description

Company Description Bankuity is focused on delivering actionable insights from consumer banking data. We work at the intersection of retail banking, fintech, and AI to help partners better understand account behavior, cash-flow patterns, and payment dynamics. This role supports Bankuity’s research efforts to deepen product-level understanding of how retail bank accounts are structured and operated across the U.S. banking landscape. About the Role We are seeking a retail banking subject-matter expert to support a focused research initiative examining how U.S. retail banks design, name, and operationalize consumer deposit accounts (checking and savings), and how those products interact with payment systems such as ACH and debit cards. This is a research and analysis role, not a day-to-day operations position. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with multiple U.S. retail banks or banking platforms and understands both consumer banking products and the underlying payment mechanics that support them. What You'll Do • Research and document how large U.S. retail banks structure and differentiate consumer checking and savings accounts (product tiers, features, fees, eligibility). • Analyze how banks use (or do not use): Internal product codes Account numbering conventions Routing number segmentation Core banking system configurations to distinguish between deposit account offerings. • Evaluate account-level features such as: Early direct deposit Monthly fee and waiver logic Minimum or average daily balance requirements Overdraft and posting order policies • Provide expert insight into ACH credit and debit processing, including: Effective Entry Dates Posting vs. settlement timing Time-zone considerations Bank discretion vs. NACHA network rules • Provide perspective on debit card processing, including authorization, settlement, and interaction with available balance. • Synthesize findings into clear written outputs (briefs, tables, reference documents) for internal product and analytics teams. • Identify where public disclosures end and where internal bank methodology typically applies. Who You Are • 8+ years of experience in retail banking, payments, or bank technology • Experience working with or consulting for multiple U.S. retail banks (top-30 banks strongly preferred) • Strong understanding of: Consumer deposit products ACH (FedACH / EPN), payroll, and bill-pay processing Debit card authorization and posting behavior Bank operational policies vs. payment network rules • Comfortable working independently with ambiguous research questions • Able to clearly explain complex banking concepts to non-bank stakeholders Nice to Have • Background in bank operations, payments risk, or deposit product management • Experience with core banking systems or bank integrations • Exposure to open banking, transaction analytics, or data aggregation • Prior research, advisory, or documentation work related to consumer banking Engagement Details • Part-time: 10–20 hours per week for 2-3 months • Fully remote • Flexible schedule • Hourly or fixed-fee arrangements considered • Opportunity for extension based on findings and ongoing needs How to Apply Please include: • A brief summary of your relevant retail banking and payments experience • Banks or financial institutions you’ve worked with • Any prior work related to consumer banking products, ACH, or payments research
