About Baltimore City Community College Founded in 1947, Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) is comprehensive, urban institution accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College’s campus is located in West Baltimore and courses are offered throughout the City. With its broad range of degree, certificate, and continuing education programs, affordable tuition, and extensive outreach, BCCC offers educational opportunities to the citizens of Baltimore City and throughout the state of Maryland. BCCC serves over 7,500* students annually, providing credits that transfer to four-year colleges and universities as well as workforce training leading directly to job placement. Description/Job Summary As a member of the Advancement team, the Director of Scholarships and Alumni Relations is responsible for executing Baltimore City Community College’s (BCCC) engagement strategies. The Director reports to the Vice President of Advancement and works with and supports the President regarding alumni and scholarship relations. The individual provides the leadership to coordinate the College’s Foundation scholarship programs (annual and endowed) and works with the Development team to cultivate donor relationships, and scholarship gifts. The Director manages the execution, direction and coordination of Scholarships and Alumni engagement events and fosters relations with BCCC’s Alumni Association. The Assistant Director/Coordinator of Scholarships and Alumni reports to the Director or designee. This position maintains the integrity and accuracy of data tracked in the organizational database. The individual possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as comprehensive knowledge about BCCC and its history. The individual works in a shared governance environment with diverse populations of students and staff to embrace and promote the mission and core values of the College. Responsibilities/Duties • Develop and implement Scholarship and Alumni engagement to meet Strategic Planning goals by increasing number of alumni volunteers and alumni donors. • Oversee the scholarship portfolio in collaboration with the Director of Development. • Collaborates on the administration of the Foundation management system via Raiser’s Edge. • Serve as the liaison and guide the BCCC’s Alumni Association to expand Alumni engagement. • Work collaboratively with the Advancement team and directly with the President in promoting fund and friend raising campaigns. • Establishes and maintains strong and mutually beneficial relationships with Alumni and external contacts. • Maintains orderly and accurate Alumni records. • Utilize appropriate databases to accurately record, track and report scholarship and alumni donations. • Manage the execution, direction, and coordination of Alumni events in collaboration with the Director of Development. • Manage a portfolio of Sponsors and Corporate Partners that support scholarship & alumni initiatives. • Travel throughout the Baltimore Metro area, representing BCCC and building relationships with its donors, prospects, community organizations, private foundations and Alumni. • Coordinate with the Development, Public Relations and Marketing Directors on consistent messaging and branding of BCCC to external and internal audiences. • Collaborate with the Development Team, to contribute and ensure the success of fundraising and special events including the faculty and staff awards, and golf tournaments. • Performs fundraising activities to support the advancement of BCCC’s mission and program objectives. Required Qualifications • BA or BS degree in Communications, Marketing, or in field with community networking experience. • 5 years minimum supervisory experience in alumni relations, fundraising or external relations • Evidence of work with volunteer and board constituents. • Working knowledge of scholarship and alumni databases and ability to realign infrastructure. • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge (or comparable software), Microsoft office software, other office resources. • Strong organizational and persuasive communicative skills and ability to formulate strategic plans. • Effective time management and organizational skills and ability to simultaneously multi-task. • Evidence of supervisory experience and managing day-to-day operations. • Successful development and execution of projects and event planning in a timely manner. • Functional skills with Windows, Microsoft Office, Alumni Software and Data Management Software • Commitment to BCCC’s mission and values and the demographics served. • Ability to travel (valid driver’s license) to various off campus locations. • Events require minimal physical setup for presentations. Preferred Qualifications • MA or MS degree in Management, Community Development or Finance area • 7 or more years in fundraising, external or alumni relations • 7 or more years of progressive experience in a supervisory/management role • Exceptional interpersonal and human relations skills • Prior experience in higher education environment or non-profit entity BCCC is committed to providing a workplace free from discrimination or harassment.
