Company: Balance FMS Location: Remote (California preferred) Hours: Approx. 5–10 hours per week to start (flexible) Pay: $30–$35 per hour DOE (potential to increase as role expands) About Balance FMS Balance FMS provides Financial Management Services (FMS) for participants in California’s Self-Determination Program (SDP) through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). We handle payroll, vendor payments, compliance tracking, and participant spending plans for individuals across multiple regional centers. We are growing quickly and looking for a detail-oriented, organized professional with a background in accounting or finance to help us streamline fiscal operations and vendor onboarding. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating order out of complexity and wants to help families and participants receive the support they deserve. Key ResponsibilitiesFiscal Oversight & Reconciliation • Reconcile participant spending plans with payroll and vendor payments • Verify invoices and service codes match approved budgets • Track regional center payments and maintain participant account ledgers • Assist with monthly and quarterly reports and fiscal audit preparation • Payroll processing support Vendor Onboarding & Organization • Send and collect vendor documents (intake forms, W-9s, service agreements, insurance) • Set up new vendors in payment systems (Bill Pay, Paychex, etc.) • Maintain vendor folders and credential tracking spreadsheets • Communicate with vendors regarding onboarding or payment status System & Process Development • Maintain master spreadsheets for invoices, payments, and participant spending • Help improve workflows and create checklists for accuracy and compliance • Coordinate with HR and admin staff to ensure fiscal alignment Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required) • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (reconciliation formulas, pivot tables) • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Professional written communication (email correspondence with vendors, RCs) • Preferred: Familiarity with DDS, Self-Determination Program (SDP), Paychex, or nonprofit/government accountingSchedule & Growth • Start with 5–10 hours/week (flexible, remote) • Opportunity to expand hours as Balance FMS grows Job Type: Part-time Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 5 per week Benefits: • Flexible schedule Work Location: Remote
