We are seeking a strong, experienced Mechanical Engineer (AEC/MEP) with leadership capability to lead our combined Baltimore and Washington, DC area Mechanical Engineering Departments and supporting the function enterprise-wide. Primary responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer Department Manager MEP will include: • Serve as an engineering leader and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering staff. • Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by. • Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects. • Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff. • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors. • Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally • Perform department management activities including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership Requirements for this position include: • 10 plus years’ experience in mechanical design (MEP) • Team supervisory experience • Bachelor’s degree mechanical engineering and PE license required • Skilled technical writer • Expert knowledge of building codes • Excellent interpersonal skills • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment with the ability to work individually or as part of a team. • Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs • Strong software skills including Revit As a multi-discipline engineering firm, Bala is a leader in innovative designs for building systems in High Rise, Mission Critical, Multi-Unit Housing, Commercial Office, Higher Education, Transportation, Adaptive Reuse and Life Science facilities.
