Role Overview We’re hiring a Head of People to build and lead the people function at BackOps. You’ll partner closely with the founders and leadership team to create the systems, culture, and practices that enable a high-performing, values-driven organization as the company scales. This role is ideal for someone who has supported growing teams, understands both the human and operational sides of People, and can balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution. What You’ll Do Own the People strategy across hiring, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, and employee experience. Partner with founders and leaders to scale teams thoughtfully while preserving culture and high performance. Design and implement clear, fair processes for feedback, growth, and performance management. Lead talent planning and workforce strategy in alignment with company goals. Build and manage compensation, leveling, and benefits programs that are competitive and equitable. Ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices across regions as the company grows. Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on coaching, employee relations, and organizational design. Establish scalable People operations, systems, and policies. Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the organization. What We’re Looking For 7+ years of experience in People, HR, or Talent leadership roles. Experience supporting fast-growing teams in startup or high-growth environments. Strong knowledge of People operations, employment law, and HR best practices. Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence across the organization. High emotional intelligence with excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills. Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels. Passion for building healthy, inclusive, and high-performing cultures. Nice to Have Experience as an early People leader at a scaling startup. Experience supporting technical or product-driven organizations.
