Position Overview America’s Sales Director will lead growth in the North American Retail Automotive market. This role will be responsible for driving sales with existing retail partners, developing new customer relationships, and expanding product categories to deliver sustainable growth. It will also have responsibility for development of Canada and subsequently developing Latin America (predominantly Mexico & Brazil). The ideal candidate is a retail expert with a proven track record in sales leadership with experience of building high calibre, high performing teams. An excellent communicator with expertise in account management, thru both fostering outstanding customer relationships, and using data driven insight to advance customer plans. Profit focused, the ideal candidate will have outstanding examples of delivering superior commercial outcomes, and experience of omni-channel environments. Role reports into the Axalta Retail Global Vice President. Key Responsibilities: Customer & Market Development Build, strengthen, and manage long-term relationships with existing retail partners. Identify and develop new U.S. retail customers to expand market presence. Develop Axalta Retail’s business in Canada and Latin America Partner with customers to align on growth initiatives, product assortment, and category strategies. Act as a retail category expert, navigating and leading line review processes with senior counter-parts in each customer, aligned to customer plans and category strategies. Build tools and processes, to systemize Axalta Retail’s customer management approach Sales & Performance Management Own and deliver the annual sales and margin budget. Create, activate, and monitor sales plans to achieve budget goals. Develop and execute customer account plans with clear growth strategies and KPIs. Provide regular reporting and insights on sales performance, ensuring a strong understanding of sales drivers and opportunities. Create regular performance loops based on reviewing market data and creating action plans based on customer wins, opportunities and competitive threats Cross-functional Leadership Deliver customer insights and market trends to product and marketing teams to influence innovation and portfolio development. Work closely with Marketing to ensure aligned activation plans deliver growth, outpace competitors, and deliver return on investment Collaborate with supply chain and operations to ensure reliable execution and customer satisfaction. Collaborate with finance and account leaders to monitor rebate payments, manage range review funding and ensure that customers are paying to agreed payment terms Support building a culture of openness and transparency in collaboration with Axalta Retail Marketing leadership and Axalta Retail Global Vice President Commercial Excellence Lead team to successfully drive deal negotiations and close opportunities with both new and existing accounts. Monitor competitive activity and market dynamics to proactively adapt strategies. Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing, and commercial terms. Coach account teams to build robust commercial decision making thru the team Qualifications & Experience: 10+ years of progressive sales experience, preferably in automotive aftermarket, coatings, or consumer goods retail. Proven track record of delivering sales growth, margin targets, and closing major deals. Deep understanding of the U.S. retail market and its buying processes, including line reviews. Understanding of channel management and effectively managing brands online Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and report sales performance data. Excellent relationship builder with the ability to build teams, and to positively influence senior-level stakeholders both internally and externally. Strategic thinker with hands-on execution skills.
