Job Summary: Provides grief and bereavement support for children of hospice families and children in the community, including but not limited to supporting children experiencing loss through deployment, incarceration, divorce, and deportation. Responsibilities: • Assess the bereavement needs of children and develop programs to meet the needs. • Plan, promote, conduct and evaluate grief workshops in Collier County Schools. • Provide individual/group grief counseling to children and families as needed. • Maintain bereavement records and documentation in the EMR and in Avow files. • Serve as a resource on children’s grief and bereavement. • Educate staff and community on children’s grief issues. • Compile reports and statistical data as appropriate. • Serve as liaison with other community agencies dealing with children. • Assist and counsel social services coordinators/counselors and bereavement services coordinators/counselors on bereavement issues relating to children. • Serve as a resource to the organization as needed (i.e. task forces). • Serve as a hospice advocate in the community. • Accept speaking engagements on children’s grief and loss and hospice programs. • Communicate regularly with school guidance counselors and other officials regarding children’s issues and school grief workshops. • Participate in planning and implementing children’s camps including day and overnight camps. • Participates in QAPI, data based outcomes, grant writing opportunities as assigned. • Adheres to all Policies and Procedures of Avow with annual review of policy handbook. • Actively participates in customer engagement experience outcomes. • Completes and remains active as a crowd control manager. • Independently participates in the “A Vow to Volunteer” program. • Meets productivity expectations as assigned by the organization. • Cross training/coverage for hospice for coverage and full spectrum of care coordination. • Other duties as assigned. Verification of enrollment in RCSWI through Florida Board of Clinical Social Work. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: LCSW or Registered Intern for LCSW Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) preferred. Registered Play Therapist (RPT) preferred. Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire and maintain without expiration during employment. Crowd Control Manager on hire or within 90 days. Must maintain and keep current. Other Qualifications: Valid Florida driver’s license. Computer Skills: Strong computer skills including database software and general knowledge of e-mail/Outlook. Language Skills: Communication skills of reading, writing and speaking in English. Bilingual or trilingual required preferred. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
