Lead structural and dynamics analyses, create models, assess stability, and support testing for spacecraft structures.
Experience with aerospace structural dynamics, Nastran, signal processing, and programming tools like Python or MATLAB.
We are working with a leading space technology company in the LA area to hire a Senior Structural Engineer to help shape the design and performance of their next-generation satellites. In this role, you’ll be the link between the Structural Engineering and GNC teams, making sure the spacecraft stays stable and performs reliably during key maneuvers. You’ll take the lead on understanding how the satellite’s structure behaves, how it interacts with the guidance and control system, and how to verify that the design meets its performance goals. Key Responsibilities: • Lead structural and dynamics analyses to understand how vibrations and movement affect spacecraft performance. • Create simplified structural models for the GNC team to support control system design. • Assess how flexible structural modes impact spacecraft stability. • Develop efficient workflows for vibration and loads predictions to support fast design cycles. • Plan and support structural testing, including modal surveys, and compare results with analytical models. Qualifications: • Experience with structural dynamics, loads, and vibration analysis for aerospace or space systems. • Strong knowledge of Nastran (Simcenter Nastran or similar). • Solid understanding of signal processing or model-reduction techniques. • Experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data analysis and automation. Desired Qualifications: • Advanced degree in engineering or a related field. • Experience with damping, modal testing, or tuning structural response. • Experience working with control systems on flexible structures. • Background supporting major test campaigns or verification activities.
