Full Description

Software Engineer - Audio/Telephony Integrations About Aurelian Aurelian automates non-emergency calls for 9-1-1 centers. Our AI-powered virtual operator intelligently routes, triages, and resolves administrative calls—freeing up human dispatchers to focus on real emergencies. The impact? Faster response times, reduced burnout, and better outcomes for communities across the country. Today, 60-80% of calls to emergency communication centers (ECCs) aren’t true emergencies—they’re administrative issues like noise complaints, lost pets, or general inquiries. While ECCs remain chronically understaffed (by as much as 30% nationwide), these calls stretch already-thin resources even further. Aurelian is fixing that. We’re already deployed in ECCs across the U.S., answering thousands of non-emergency calls every day. By reducing hold times and streamlining operations, we’re helping agencies regain control and bring focus back to where it matters most: saving lives. We’re growing fast—and looking for a Software Engineer who wants to make a real, measurable difference in the future of public safety. What You’ll Do Develop and maintain integrations between legacy telephony systems and Aurelian’s cloud platform. Optimize the audio processing and metadata pipelines to ensure seamless, reliable data transfer and processing from on-premise systems to the cloud. Collaborate closely with customers and technical teams to understand unique system requirements and deliver robust solutions. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve integration and data flow issues in production environments. Contribute to the evolution of company architecture, ensuring scalable, mission-critical deployments for public safety. What We’re Looking For 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with a focus on systems integration or telephony/audio processing. Strong experience working with telephony protocols, audio codecs, and data pipelines. Proficiency in backend development (Python preferred) and experience building integration bridges between legacy and modern systems. Familiarity with cloud-based architectures, real-time audio processing, and handling complex data flows. Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to thrive in fast-paced and evolving environments. If you’re eager to build technology with real-world impact and help shape the future of emergency communications, we’d love to hear from you!
