High school diploma, medical assistant certification or training, BLS certification, 6 months to 1 year of relevant healthcare experience, knowledge of safety standards and EMR systems.
Position Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) supports licensed providers in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced urgent care or outpatient clinic environment. The MA performs clinical and administrative duties within the scope permitted by California law, under the supervision of a licensed provider. This position requires strong patient interaction skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask while maintaining safety and compliance standards. ⸻ Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training programpreferred • Current MA certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA preferred but not required if trained) • Current BLS certification • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in urgent care, outpatient clinic, or medical office preferred • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and safety standards • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems ⸻ Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Duties • Room patients and obtain vital signs, chief complaints, and medical histories • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during exams and procedures • Perform permitted clinical tasks including: • Injections and immunizations • EKGs • Venipuncture and specimen collection • Wound care and dressing changes • Point-of-care testing as authorized (urine, glucose, flu, COVID, strep, etc.) • Prepare and clean exam rooms according to infection control standards • Provide patient education and discharge instructions as directed by providers ⸻ Administrative Duties • Schedule appointments and assist with patient flow • Document clinical information accurately in the EMR • Verify patient information and assist with intake forms • Manage clinic supplies and restocking • Assist with referrals, lab processing, and follow-up calls as needed ⸻ Professional Conduct • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations • Demonstrate professionalism and respectful communication with patients and team members • Follow clinic policies, procedures, and safety protocols • Report incidents, safety concerns, or equipment issues promptly ⸻ Work Schedule • Hourly position • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on clinic needs ⸻ Employment Classification • Non-exempt, hourly employee • Eligible for overtime pay in accordance with California law • Eligible for meal and rest periods as required by law ⸻ Physical Requirements • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods • Ability to assist patients and perform repetitive clinical tasks • Ability to lift up to [X] pounds as required for patient care tasks ⸻ Equal Employment Opportunity Auburn Walk-in Clinic is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, national origin, or veteran status.
