Full Description

We believe home should restore you, not drain you. Today, modern life has turned homes into a second workplace — an endless stream of logistics, to-dos, and mental load. People work all week, only to come home to more work. HomeOS is building software that helps people manage their homes more effectively — so they can reclaim their time and create spaces that truly support their lives. We’re early-stage and working closely with real households to understand how homes actually operate: what breaks down, what people struggle with, and where technology can make the biggest difference. Those insights guide everything we build. Our goal is to create the foundation for a smarter, calmer home — one that quietly handles the background tasks of daily life so people can focus on what matters most. Vision for the Role This is a foundational design role focused on shaping the core experience of HomeOS. You’ll help define how people interact with the system from day one — setting the UX architecture, designing key workflows, and building the initial components that make home management feel effortless and human. You’ll collaborate closely with product and engineering to translate real household insights into elegant, functional design solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complexity and creating systems that scale beautifully over time. Key Responsibilities User Research & Synthesis Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to uncover user needs, pain points, and behaviors. Synthesize findings into clear design hypotheses and recurring patterns, partnering with the Product Manager to translate insights and user stories into actionable design directions. Rapid Visualization & Prototyping Create wireframes, low-fidelity sketches, and interactive prototypes in Figma. Iterate quickly based on feedback, converging on solutions in just a few cycles. Systems Architecture Design Define and evolve UX workflows across multiple personas and devices. Think through system states, edge cases, and overall information architecture. Design and communicate product features Work with Product management and engineering to define product features Build out screens and flows for various product features in figma Document all designs and communicate designs with engineering Design System Development Establish the initial design system and core reusable components to support scalable design. Leverage existing libraries while building branded components for consistency and speed. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with product and engineering in an Agile environment. Ensure handoff with minimal rework and alignment with technical constraints. Consumer-Grade Craft Deliver designs that combine usability with polish and emotional resonance. Ensure the product feels intuitive, trustworthy, and delightful for everyday users. Skills & Qualifications 5–10 years of experience in UX or product design, ideally with consumer-facing or system-heavy products. Bachelor’s degree or 4 year+ education in UX design or equivalent experience (Design intensive programs + 5 years acceptable). Proven track record of shipping products end-to-end, from discovery through MVP to iterative product versions with live users. Proficiency in Figma, including building and maintaining atomic design systems. Strong systems thinking: ability to design for complex, multi-user environments and multiple states. Experience shipping products that serve multiple user types on the same platform. Experience collaborating directly with engineers in Agile workflows. Comfortable with ambiguity and iteration in early-stage product environments. Excellent communication and storytelling skills to articulate design decisions. (Bonus) Experience mentoring or shaping design culture as part of a growing team.
