Full Description

Location: Remote (with occasional travel to client sites and Athena hub cities) Type: Full-Time, Salaried What You’ll Do 🔍 As an Informatics Senior Analyst, you will play a key role on client teams, taking ownership of your work and collaborating closely with Analysts, Senior Analysts, and Team Leads. You’ll support important client facing projects by collecting, validating, preparing, and analyzing large healthcare datasets and contributing insights that help shape client strategies. This role also offers opportunities to engage with clients, support new business efforts, and participate in Athena’s broader community. Key Responsibilities: Collecting, cleaning, and validating client data to ensure accuracy and completeness Preparing and transforming datasets for use in client analyses and reporting Designing, developing, and maintaining advanced SQL queries to support business intelligence and analytics efforts. Writing SAS code from scratch or modifying existing code to query and analyze data. Researching and gathering information to support project work and client initiatives Reviewing and analyzing work products Providing input for the development of effective solutions and insights Creating, updating, and maintaining Excel models and datasets Assisting with the preparation of client reports and presentations Participating in Athena’s strategy meetings and providing feedback on community initiatives Demonstrating a strong commitment to personal and professional integrity while supporting Athena’s mission and values What We’re Looking For ✅ Must-Haves: 3–5 years of experience in healthcare informatics, data management, or analytics roles Experience collecting, validating, and preparing datasets for analysis and reporting Advanced SAS and SQL skills required; must be proficient in writing complex queries to implement business logic and derive insights from large datasets Proven problem-solving skills and a strong drive to learn Adaptable to ambiguity and able to handle undefined assignments, serving as a flexible team player ready to tackle new and evolving tasks Commitment to Athena’s mission and values Ability to work independently and thrive in a remote-first environment Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Nice-to-Haves: Experience with Federal Health Agencies (e.g., HHS, CMS, AHRQ, etc.) Interest in the actuarial profession or working towards an ASA/FSA designation Perks & Benefits Flexible Time Off policy Medical, Dental, Vision coverage Short- and Long-Term Disability Paid Parental Leave Life Insurance 401(k) with employer match Competitive actuarial exam support program Why Athena? 🌟 At Athena, we believe actuarial consulting and specialty advisory services is more than just calculating risk: It’s a lens for reimagining what’s possible.
