Optimize and professionalize YALDA's Handshake employer profiles to enhance recruitment and university approval. | Experience managing Handshake or similar platforms, understanding of university recruitment, content creation skills, and familiarity with nonprofit sector. | This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA) is seeking a skilled Handshake specialist to help us optimize and professionalize our Handshake employer profile and presence to scale student/youth recruitment across the United States university system. We currently have two Handshake employer profiles that require strategic enhancement to meet platform compliance standards and university approval criteria. Several universities declined our access due to profile gaps and content quality, and we now need an expert to audit, refine, and relaunch our recruitment strategy on Handshake for maximum reach and credibility. Then also to reach back to the universities to accept us and to repost our opportunities. Experience managing Handshake employer or career services accounts Strong understanding of university recruitment and employer approval process Expertise in profile optimization, employer branding, or recruiting strategy Copywriting and content structure for professional platform profiles Familiarity with nonprofit or social impact sector preferred Strong communication and ability to work independently YALDA is a youth-driven international nonprofit operating in 40+ African countries and diaspora communities, with partnerships and collaborations across Harvard University, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the United Nations (UNECA), Afreximbank, UNDP, and major pan-African institutions. Our mission is to equip African youth with leadership, entrepreneurship, and skills development opportunities to solve Africa’s most pressing challenges. Each year, we connect thousands of young people across Africa and globally to education, career pathways, mentorship, digital training, and volunteer leadership roles. Your work will directly: Open recruitment access to over 100 U.S. universities Enable thousands of students to access YALDA opportunities Strengthen a global youth movement that empowers African youth Accelerate leadership development, employability, and innovation across Africa This project will unlock a strategic recruitment pipeline and expand our volunteer base, internship program, and university partnerships. We are fully committed to setting this project up for success from day one. This Handshake optimization initiative has already received full internal approval from our leadership team at the Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA), and we have designated a clear project owner to work closely with the pro bono volunteer. We have also prepared the core materials required for this project, including: Access to both existing Handshake employer profiles A list of universities that previously declined our applications, including feedback where available Draft opportunity postings for review Official organization profile documents (mission, EIN/nonprofit registration, credibility assets) Links to our website, media coverage, and global partnerships Branding assets (logos, descriptions, team structure) Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa Mission: YALDA provides a forum for youth on the African continent and those abroad with a commitment to the welfare of Africa. By networking with professionals, mentors and each other, members will increase their capacity to take on positive leadership roles in their universities, countries and on the continent. Through YALDA, members will implement their short and long term visions for Africa.

Design colorful newsletters and posters for a youth-focused nonprofit organization on a rolling basis. | Passion for Africa's development, creativity in design, ability to work with provided content and branding elements. | This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. YALDA is looking for a creative designer, who loves color and making designs that attract the youth generation. We have some very simple design needs that need to be completed on a rolling basis: - Design of YALDA newsletters (4 of them) - first one in July 2022, second one in September 2022, third one October 2022, and fourth one in January 2023, etc. - Some FUN, ENGAGING and COLOURFUL posters YALDA US has an opening for Graphics Designer Volunteer reporting directly to the YALDA US President and team. Do you have a strong passion for the development of Africa? Do you have innovative ideas on how the youth can contribute to Africa’s development? Do you want to positively impact the lives of bright and talented young people to make the most of their lives on the African continent? Do you love to network and meet people from all over the world? Then this position is for you! YALDA is a networking organization that is truly Africa branded: "By Africans, For Africa!" YALDA is a non-profit international organization that was established by upper-level and graduate Harvard University students to create a resourceful networking database for those with a strong interest in Africa. The network is centered around YALDA branches, primarily at African universities, and serves to increase the capacity of youth in Africa for developing positive leadership skills and to espouse an honest work ethic. YALDA US works on researching opportunities in Africa, fundraising activities, working with branches, maintaining relationships with the UN, and compliance with regulations as a 501(c)(3). CContent for all 4 projects has been completed, we just need the design. Design of YALDA newsletters (4 of them) - first one in March 2025, the second one in July 2025, the third one in September 2025, and the fourth one in December 2025, etc. FUN, ENGAGING and COLOURFUL posters are on an ad-hoc basis. YALDA is ready to share all the content for the newsletter and key messages volunteer can draw on including all our branding elements such as our logo, colour palette etc. Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa Mission: YALDA provides a forum for youth on the African continent and those abroad with a commitment to the welfare of Africa. By networking with professionals, mentors and each other, members will increase their capacity to take on positive leadership roles in their universities, countries and on the continent. Through YALDA, members will implement their short and long term visions for Africa.
