General Job Description As our Carrier Manager, you'll be the strategic force behind our national transportation carrier network. You'll build strong partnerships, negotiate smartly, and ensure our freight moves efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time. From carrier performance to procurement strategy, you'll balance service, cost, and capacity—turning relationships into results and strategy into execution. Major Duties and Responsibilities • Relationship Builder: Manage and strengthen partnerships with regional and national carriers across FTL, LTL, and specialized freight services. • Network Architect: Develop and scale a high-performing carrier network that supports a multi-site national fulfillment operation. • Strategic Negotiator: Source and negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements to optimize cost and service outcomes. • Procurement Leader: Lead RFPs, bid events, and carrier selection strategies to ensure competitive and reliable transportation solutions. • Performance Driver: Conduct carrier reviews and monitor KPIs like on-time delivery, claims, and cost performance to drive accountability and improvement. • Operational Partner: Collaborate across Operations, Customer Service, and Planning teams to ensure seamless freight execution. • Problem Solver: Resolve escalated issues including delays, service failures, damages, and capacity constraints. • Capacity Planner: Manage routing guide strategies and ensure sufficient capacity during peak shipping periods. • Data-Driven Leader: Analyze carrier performance, transportation spend, and service metrics to drive continuous improvement. • Compliance Champion: Ensure carrier adherence to regulatory, insurance, safety, and alcohol shipping requirements. Qualifications for the Job • 7+ years of transportation, logistics, or carrier management experience. • Strong experience managing Freight, LTL, and FTL carrier networks. • Proven success negotiating transportation contracts and pricing structures. • Experience managing carrier performance across multiple facilities or regions. • Strong understanding of transportation operations, routing, and optimization strategies. • Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship management skills. • Experience with TMS platforms and transportation analytics tools preferred. • Background in wine, beverage, or regulated logistics is a plus. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. Work Environment and Physical Demands: • Prolonged periods of standing/walking/sitting. • Occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50lbs. • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. • Occasional loud noise. • Occasional varying environmental temperature changes.
