This role is essential to the daily life of the school and provides direct support to students and teachers across grade levels. Position Overview Classroom Support Personnel serve as a flexible, student-centered presence on campus. They support classroom instruction, step in as a substitute teacher when needed, and supervise students during lunch and recess. This role requires strong communication, adaptability, and a genuine joy for working with children. Key Responsibilities • Substitute for teachers during absences, following lesson plans and maintaining classroom routines. • Support teachers in classrooms by assisting with instruction, small groups, and materials preparation. • Supervise students during lunch, recess, transitions, and other assigned periods. • Coordinate with teachers and division leadership to ensure continuity of learning and classroom management. • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that reflects the values and expectations of WES. • Communicate professionally and effectively with faculty, staff, and families as appropriate. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required. • Demonstrated experience working successfully with children in an educational or youth-focused setting. • Experience interacting professionally and positively with parents and caregivers. Skills & Competencies • Strong classroom management and student supervision skills. • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced school environment. • Clear, respectful, and age-appropriate communication with students. • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and school staff. • Sound judgment and the ability to respond calmly and thoughtfully to student needs. • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the social-emotional development of students. • Reliability, professionalism, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
