We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Project Manager – Operations & Special Projects to support strategic initiatives across our transportation and logistics network. Responsibilities • Support and eventually lead new account launches across the organization. • Manage special projects and strategic initiatives that drive operational improvements and business growth. • Partner with Operations, Billing, IT, Safety, and other departments to identify and resolve operational challenges. • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, service, profitability, and customer satisfaction. • Support the implementation of technology, system integrations, and other division-wide initiatives. • Conduct operational audits and assessments to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with company standards. • Provide operational support and leadership coverage for field locations when needed. • Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. • Analyze operational performance data and develop actionable recommendations for improvement. • Travel throughout North America to support account launches, audits, special projects, and strategic initiatives. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent logistics, transportation, supply chain, or operations experience will be considered. • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time, with travel assignments typically lasting 1–2 weeks. • Passport in hand or willingness to obtain one. • Flexibility to support launches, projects, and operational needs, including occasional second- or third-shift coverage. • Previous experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, supply chain, project management, or operations leadership preferred.

Key Responsibilities • Serve as the primary contact between Universal Logistics, customers, and suppliers regarding material flow and delivery schedules. • Monitor and track inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery and accuracy. • Coordinate with warehouse, dispatch, and production teams to align material requirements with operational needs. • Investigate and resolve material shortages, shipment delays, and discrepancies in Bills of Lading (BOLs) or packing lists. • Maintain accurate records of material movement, inventory levels, and delivery confirmations. • Communicate daily updates to internal teams and provide customers with shipment and delivery status reports. • Collaborate with transportation providers to schedule and confirm pickups and deliveries. • Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and customer requirements. • Support continuous improvement initiatives in material handling and logistics operations. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred. • 2+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, warehousing, or material coordination. • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with multiple stakeholders. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with logistics/ERP systems. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Knowledge of transportation, shipping documentation, and inventory processes preferred.
