Overview Position Overview At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), Manufacturing Layout Engineer are the critical link between design and production-the one who translates plans into action. You'll be responsible for listing every hollow metal door and frame with precision and purpose, ensuring each detail is clear, complete, and ready for seamless execution on the shop floor. In this role, your accuracy drives momentum-and your layout becomes the blueprint of our success. Responsibilities and Qualifications Key Responsibilities • Shop Drawing & Software Input • Enter detailed shop drawing information into the designated manufacturing software • Analyze elevations and material profiles to ensure compatibility with efficient manufacturing techniques • Hardware & Template Interpretation • Ensure hardware templates are accurately interpreted and programmed relative to each part • Maintain tight manufacturing tolerances and adhere to established manufacturing methods • Manufacturing Criteria Assessment • Evaluate all manufacturing factors in relation to shop capabilities, including bend deductions, shear sizes, jig selection, reinforcement needs, material gauge selection • Programming for Optimization • Accurately program elevations to ensure efficient machine utilization /optimization and tool selection to properly produce parts • Miscellaneous • Support our values in the stand areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customers • Other duties as assigned Qualifications • High school Diploma or equivalent with two years of additional computer training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • 1-2 of related programming experience • Knowledge of software applications • Understanding of related programming languages and procedures Compensation and Benefits Reports To Listing Manager Compensation The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. Overview: Position Overview At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), Engineers drive the design and development of hollow metal and wood door shop drawings while coordinating across teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency. By managing documentation and supporting project timelines, they play a key role in keeping work on track. Responsibilities and Qualifications: Key Responsibilities • Project & Engineering Support • Assists with the research, design, and implementation of projects • Performs engineering project support functions • Conducts research to determine manufacturability, ease of assembly • Assists in review and creation of documentation • Assist management with “Research and Development” of new products and processes as needed • Technical Design & Compliance • Researches and analyzes design proposals, specifications and applications regulations • Interprets Architectural Specifications and Blueprints in order to develop CAD based shop drawings for Architect’s review • Interacts with engineering team to assess compliance with plan specifications • Identifies causes of product process instability and recommends solutions • Ensures products and systems meet client/customer specifications and applicable building codes • Project Coordination & Communication • Coordinates with the client and LIFD Project Manager to resolve issues and application contracts • Manages the release of material to the production facility to ensure efficiency and compliance with customers’ critical path expectations • Communicates project information among groups, departments, and units • Supports team members and ensures that established goals and deadlines are met • Documentation & Reporting • Maintain appropriate documentation • Ensures that all project documentation is complete and current • Keeps superiors informed of significant problems and of progress in reaching established objectives • Team Collaboration & Relationship Management • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with area staff • Miscellaneous • Support our values in the stated areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customers • Other duties as assigned Qualifications • High school Diploma or equivalent with two years of additional computer training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Must have knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and contract specifications • AutoCAD (Required) Compensation and Benefits: Reports To Engineering Manager Compensation The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market.
