View Job
Compensation$70K - 130K a year

Build and scale mobile and web components using React Native and lead cross-platform design reviews. | 7+ years software engineering experience with deep React Native expertise and technical leadership. | At Underdog, we make sports more fun. Our thesis is simple: build the best products and we’ll build the biggest company in the space, because there’s so much more to be built for sports fans. We’re just over five years in, and we’re one of the fastest-growing sports companies ever, most recently valued at $1.3B. And it’s still the early days. We’ve built and scaled multiple games and products across fantasy sports, sports betting, and prediction markets, all united in one seamless, simple, easy to use, intuitive and fun app. Underdog isn’t for everyone. One of our core values is give a sh*t. The people who win here are the ones who care, push, and perform. If that’s you, come join us. Winning as an Underdog is more fun. About the role We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who specializes in React Native to help us build the core betting experience, from the moment a customer builds a slip through submission, confirmation, and settlement. Our work spans full stack in Ruby, iOS, Android, and Web products, and you'll bring deep React Native expertise to that mix, to make sure the experience holds up to a high bar for speed and reliability at scale. This means owning cross-cutting problems that touch multiple platforms, driving design decisions that hold up under real production traffic, and closing the gap between how a feature is supposed to work and how it actually behaves once it ships. You'll dig into the trickiest bugs and edge cases in the betting experience, help raise the bar for what "done" looks like across the client, and coach other engineers along the way so the patterns you introduce actually stick. Build and scale core parts of the mobile and web apps in React Native; entry building, review, placement, and tracking. The whole lifecycle. Investigate and resolve critical issues in the React Native client, and put guardrails in place so they don't recur. Lead design reviews for initiatives that cut across iOS, Android React Native clients, calling out trade-offs, risks, and failure modes before they become incidents. Partner with backend, product, and design on entry placement, entry confirmation, slip changes and errors, and bet history to keep the experience fast and consistent Turn ambiguous, cross-team goals into concrete plans with milestones and clear owners Use data like product analytics, error dashboards, and session data to validate that fixes actually land and to catch regressions early Coach other engineers on design reasoning and ownership, and create reusable patterns that other teams adopt Anticipate and mitigate risks in shared systems before they impact other teams or customers Who you are 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful time spent in React Native and a solid grasp of the native iOS/Android layers underneath it A track record of solving cross-cutting or ambiguous problems that span multiple services, teams, or platforms; not just staying in your lane Experience leading technical initiatives (performance work, reliability improvements, developer velocity) with measurable before/after impact Comfort turning unclear, high-level goals into an executable plan with milestones and owners that other teams actually align on A collaborative, coaching mindset; you make other engineers better through review and design discussion, not just your own output Strong written and verbal communication; you can make a technical trade-off legible to product, design, and other engineering teams Experience with mobile app performance, testability, and shipping reliable features at scale Even better if you have Background in sports, fantasy, or gaming Experience working on wagering, betting, or other high-stakes transactional flows Familiarity with Amplitude, Datadog, or similar tools for instrumenting and monitoring client-side behavior Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $220,000, plus target equity. The starting base salary will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills and experience, among other things. What we can offer you Unlimited PTO (we're extremely flexible with the exception of the first few weeks before & into the NFL season) 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave Home office stipend A connected virtual first culture with a highly engaged distributed workforce 5% 401k match, FSA, company paid health, dental, vision plan options for employees and dependents #LI-REMOTE We're a remote-first company and value in-person connection. That said, we expect everyone to gather 2-3 times per year for team and company offsites, trainings, and more. Compensation$80K - 150K a year

Design and scale core exchange infrastructure including order matching and trade execution systems. | Requires 5+ years experience with low-latency systems and proficiency in C, Rust, C++, Go, or Java. Our exchange is the core technology powering our predictions market offering - we're building an entirely new foundation for sports predictions at scale, and we're looking for the engineers to help us do it right. The role We are building the future of prediction markets. You will design, build and scale the systems that underpin our exchange infrastructure — focusing on latency, reliability, and accuracy across the most critical paths in our platform. This means owning core components end to end, making system design decisions that matter, and optimizing performance under real, high-throughput conditions. The team is responsible for the APIs (FIX+REST+WebSockets), market data syndication, and connectivity that sophisticated clients depend on to interact with our markets. You will work closely with teams across Underdog to hold a high bar on performance and availability for customers that expect both. We are a team of highly accountable and ambitious people, and you see yourself the same way. This is high-ownership, high-impact work and your contributions will be visible and impactful. What you'll do Build and scale core exchange infrastructure - order matching, trade execution algorithms, and the data structures that underpin them Build APIs and data feeds that clients depend on - REST, FIX, WebSockets - and make them fast and reliable Design robust clearing infrastructure, position management, margining, and how money actually moves. Drive technical relationships with our customers (market makers, traders, etc.) Hunt down performance bottlenecks - in databases, internal services, and anywhere latency is costing us Put systems under pressure before production does - rigorous testing of the things that can't go down Help invent what prediction market structure looks like beyond what exists today - new contract types, new mechanics, etc. Move fast, make calls, and own the outcome - we give real autonomy, which means real accountability. What you bring At least 5+ years of engineering experience, with a track record on high-performance, low-latency systems Strong command of highly performant programming languages (C, Rust, C++, Go, Java, or similar) and the willingness and desire to flex into others. You are product minded and scope well, you make good tradeoffs, and don't need hand-holding. Demonstrable experience thriving in fast-paced and ambiguous environments, where high-agency and ambition go hand-in-hand. Experience in TradeFi, prediction markets, crypto exchange infrastructure or SOR. Bonus points if you have… Background in sports, fantasy, or gaming. Proven experience building highly available, high-volume consumer-facing systems. Deep understanding of concurrency, threading models, and the tradeoffs in performance-sensitive systems Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $160,000 and $240,000, plus target equity. The starting base salary will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills and experience, among other things. What we can offer you: Unlimited PTO for full-time employees (we're extremely flexible with the exception of the first few weeks before & into the NFL season) 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave Home office stipend A connected virtual-first culture with a highly engaged distributed workforce 5% 401k match, FSA, company paid health, dental, vision plan options for employees and dependents #LI-REMOTE We're a remote-first company and value in-person connection. That said, we expect everyone to gather 2-3 times per year for team and company offsites, trainings, and more. This position may require sports betting licensure based on certain state regulations.
