Job Summary and Qualifications The Director of Respiratory Therapy Services is responsible for a variety of duties related to the management and operations of the assigned department(s), including but not limited to provision of quality patient care, regulatory compliance, employee performance improvement, and quality improvement. The Director is active in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and hospital activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to hospital. What you will do in this role: • Ensure coordination of clinical processes in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, Medical-Surgical Units, Interventional Radiology, and Comprehensive Stroke Center that enhance care of the stroke patient. • Review and update accordingly stroke protocols and standing orders for consistency and continuity of care. • Coordinate with the Education Department to provide annual stroke educational opportunities for staff, make recommendations for competencies related to caring for the stroke patient, and coordinate annual needs assessment for upcoming educational opportunities. • Work collaboratively with quality management; participate in RCAs other PI projects as appropriate. • Review stroke data and reports for accuracy; IRR for data abstractor per policy. • Facilitate Neuroscience Executive Committee and Multidisciplinary Stroke Team meetings. • Meet regularly with stroke program medical director; assist in the review and development of stroke center protocols. • Assist nursing and administrative leadership in strategic planning and goal setting for the Neuroscience Program. • Achieve and maintain comprehensive stroke center certification through compliance with Joint Commission standards. • Work collaboratively with EMS in development of protocols; ensuring compliance and providing feedback/case studies. • Work collaboratively with physician relations, access team, and marketing to promote positive relationships with referral sources/outreach for the Neuroscience Program. • Work collaboratively with the neuroscience team to implement improvement strategies for care of the stroke patient. What qualifications you will need: • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required. • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master’s Degree preferred. • Experience in management of a Neuroscience program strongly preferred. • Stroke Certified RN (SCRN) preferred. • Current BLS required.
