Essential Job Responsibilities • Report on and drive profitability of existing contracts. • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements. • Monitor and maintain profitable contracts at assigned accounts in line with company strategy • Develop and ensure good relationships at various Customers organizational levels, both Commercial and Technical • Propose, get approval, and achieve yearly objectives (revenues, EBITDA, performance, etc.) • Prepare and present monthly updates to report progress with respect to yearly objectives • Prepare and deliver presentations to the client, having researched their business and requirements to satisfy both internal and external cadence. • Work as part of a team and closely with other departments within the organization to drive performance in quality, schedule, and profitability. • Manage a team within the commercial organization of Contract administrator(s) • Adopt a lean approach to support the commercial organization looking for ways to drive efficiency. • Prepare complete New Product Introduction Kick Offs to support start of programs. • Complete forecasting of customer sales and support of the SIOPs process. • Control and manage changes and project risks on a continuous and pro-active basis • Ensure the preparation of claims and assertions going to customer and support negotiations • Balance Company and Customer needs across all project activities • Frequent interface with plant General Managers and COE’s to understand performance on all programs. • Serve as primary contact with the customer for coordination of requirements and project performance reporting. • Ensure that complete customer requirements are provided to Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Quality and that all activities support project needs. • Recommend and develop solutions to complex problems to achieve program requirements • Assist with special projects and participate on process improvement teams as requested • Assist in proposal development Education And Experiences • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Management or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. • Minimum 2 years of experience in the aerospace industry as a Customer Service Representative, Program Manager, Project Manager, Lead Engineer or Production Manager. • Experience with Project Management tools such as Gantt charts, project scheduling and staffing plans. Experience in multiple disciplines is a plus. Familiarity with manufacturing of complex assemblies. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Analyze ability of product to withstand stress imposed by conditions such as temperature, loads, motion, and vibration. Provide fatigue and damage tolerance analysis as required. Validate design for optimal material selection and corrosion prevention. Support production by resolving manufacturing issues including disposition of rejection tags. Provide fleet support by developing and substantiating repairs. Direct preparation of final stress analysis reports to substantiate that the design satisfies all relevant EASA or FAA regulations and customer requirements. Assist in preparation of test plans, provide technical support during testing, analyze test results and document conclusions. Provide technical leadership and on-the-job training to team of assigned engineers to enhance skill development of junior engineers. Coordinate all aspects of team activity to maximize productivity and meet schedule and cost targets. Conduct frequent coordination with customer for all stress related issues, typically attending weekly customer meetings. Track status of action items and deliverables to and from customer. This position will work with the engineering team and will ensure the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole and will lead and direct the work of the team to accomplish department goals and fulfill customer needs. This individual will work both independently as well as part of the larger engineering team. Tasks will include the development of aircraft structural layouts and the design of individual components, assemblies, and installations. Engineering materials will include metals, nonmetals, and composite structural materials. Tasking may also include design and integration of aircraft mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, environmental control systems and a variety of other equipment and systems as needed. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The Design Engineer III will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks in the following areas: Applies standard engineering practices and techniques, including innovative methodologies, to provide effective solutions to problems involving a wide number of variables. Review and understand customer’s Statement of Work (SOW), technical specifications, Interface Control Drawings, schedules and budgets. Create/compile technical documentation that supports evolving/changing designs. Able to ensure the selection and application of materials and processes are appropriate to each design element with the ability to generate and/or revise specifications when necessary. Compose compliance matrix to meet customer specification requirements. Assist in producing engineering quotes to specifications or customer repair demands. Create Service Bulletins, Repair Schemes and Service Letters that meet the customers’ modifications or repair needs. Responsible for communicating with customers and suppliers, translating technical information and ensuring compliance to standards and requirements. In-depth knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Proficiency utilizing Siemens NX, CATIA V5/3DX, or CREO engineering CAD software. Works on problems that are complex in scope where analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors to determine appropriate action. Ability to guide, mentor and advise other design engineering staff. Provide direction and serve as expert resource to other department engineers and management team. Function as an interface to ensure complete understanding of requirements, goals and constraints. Document issues and communicate to necessary departments, evaluate potential problems and provide risk assessment. Follow-up to ensure that issues have been successfully resolved. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Participate in a variety of process improvement projects. Will facilitate or lead teams. Able to support design reviews with preparation and knowledgeable presentation of review material. Directs work of others and acts as a lead. Performs other duties as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES Requires a BSME, BSCE, BSAE, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or in a related field.
