Design, develop, and support sanitary process systems for food & beverage manufacturing, from concept through installation and commissioning. | Bachelor's in Engineering with 8-10+ years of process engineering experience, familiarity with industry standards, and proficiency in AutoCAD and process tools. | Sharpe Engineering & Equipment is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support the design, development, and execution of sanitary process systems for the food & beverage industry. This hands-on technical expert will take projects from concept through design, equipment specification, installation, and commissioning—ensuring every solution meets Sharpe’s standards for quality, safety, and operational excellence. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with clients, internal engineering teams, contractors, and vendors. You will play a key role in shaping process solutions, delivering exceptional project results, and advancing Sharpe’s reputation as a trusted partner in food & beverage processing. Key Responsibilities Design and layout fluid process systems, including batching, processing, packaging, CIP/COP, pasteurization, filtration, and heat exchange technologies. Develop PFDs, P&IDs, utility and equipment matrices, mass balances, SOPs, and SSOPs. Size and specify process equipment, pumps, valves, instrumentation, and utility systems such as steam, glycol, condensate, cooling water, and city water. Prepare performance specifications and RFQs, and coordinate with vendors throughout the equipment selection process. Identify process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives across client operations. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment across engineering, project management, installation, and start-up activities. Provide field supervision or support during equipment installation, commissioning, and site visits. Maintain strong communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and exceptional service. Why Join Sharpe? What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or related). 8–10+ years of relevant process engineering experience; supervisory experience preferred. Strong understanding of 3A, USDA, and FDA sanitary design requirements. Proficiency with AutoCAD (including isometric drawings), Microsoft Office, and process engineering tools. Experience executing process design from concept through installation and commissioning. Ability to travel to client sites (30–50%) for meetings, design reviews, installation support, and start-ups. Lead development and execution of mechanical engineering projects, including design, technical support, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. | Requires a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 7-10 years of experience in equipment/system design and project management. | The Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions on assigned projects. Working under the direction of the Mechanical Engineering Manager and in coordination with the Project Manager, this role provides advanced technical expertise, prepares detailed engineering deliverables, and supports execution activities within defined project constraints. This role receives task assignments and workload prioritization from the Mechanical Engineering Manager. Key Responsibilities Project Engineering & Design Lead development of project plans, design packages, equipment specifications, layouts, and engineering deliverables. Produce detailed drawings, models, and specifications utilizing CAD tools (2D/3D). Develop and maintain PFDs, P&IDs, utility and equipment matrices, scope documents, and installation packages. Recommend materials, components, and system configurations ensuring reliability, efficiency, and performance. Project Execution & Technical Support Execute assigned engineering tasks in alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget established by the Project Manager and Mechanical Engineering Manager. Provide technical problem-solving, design alternatives, and value-engineering options to reduce costs, improve schedule, and enhance serviceability. Prepare and review equipment specifications, vendor submittals, and technical documentation to support procurement decisions. Support commissioning, field testing, troubleshooting, and installation activities by providing mechanical engineering expertise as directed by the Project Manager. Collaborate closely with internal engineering disciplines (process, controls, electrical), installation teams, and external vendors to resolve technical challenges and maintain project momentum. Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as primary technical contact for clients throughout project phases. Maintain effective communication with internal teams, contractors, and vendors. Collaborate with operations, controls, and fabrication teams to resolve challenges. Quality, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement Ensure project designs adhere to regulatory codes, industry standards, and policies. Identify and implement process and design improvements. Prepare technical reports, progress updates, design changes, and recommendations. Value Engineering & Budgeted Hours Identify cost-saving, schedule-improving, and maintainability-enhancing design opportunities and communicate these options to the Project Manager and Mechanical Engineering Manager.
