Support public agencies on traffic design, analysis, and transportation planning projects, including traffic modeling, report writing, and client communication. | 10+ years of traffic engineering experience, proficiency with traffic simulation tools, and a PE license or ability to obtain within six months. | Looking to grow our services in the Pacific Northwest and expand our presence with localities and WSDOT in the region, RK&K seeks to hire a Project Manager in Seattle to support our Transportation team. As a senior member of our team, you will focus on leading a variety of dynamic pursuits and projects as it relates to transportation, with a key focus on supporting our regional growth.. As a Transportation Project Manager with RK&K you will support public agencies on traffic design and analysis engineering programs throughout our current and future portfolio. Essential Functions • Perform a variety of tasks, including traffic engineering design plans, preliminary engineering design, transportation planning studies, and traffic operations analysis • Support projects for all modes of travel including highway, bus, rail, bicycle and pedestrian in urban, suburban and rural environments • Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) • Complete studies and develop high quality traffic reports with limited direction and be able to clearly, professionally present that information to our clients on site and virtually • Utilize traffic analysis/simulation tools to perform traffic modeling and simulations • Prepare technical reports and presentations • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans • Direct project staff and sub-consultants • Serve as liaison between client and firm • Execute QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work • Provide engineering judgment and initiative within the Traffic Engineering field Required Skills and Experience • Ten (10) + years of progressive experience in traffic engineering • Experience working with WSDOT and local municipalities • Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skills including public speaking • Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual and AASHTO guidelines • Traffic control device design (signals, signing and marking, temporary traffic control, ITS) experience using MUTCD . • Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM (or simulation analysis software) • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain within six months. Preferred Skills and Experience • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) • Experience supervising other traffic engineers Other Duties This job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA). Manage and deliver complex traffic engineering projects, oversee technical teams, and develop client relationships. | Requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, PE license, 10+ years of experience in traffic engineering, and proficiency in design software. | We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager with a strong background in traffic design and analysis to join our growing team in Philadelphia, PA. This leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives on managing complex transportation projects, overseeing technical teams, and developing strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of traffic engineering principles, analysis and design standards, and be comfortable managing all phases of project development-from proposal to close-out. Essential Functions • Manage and deliver traffic engineering projects, with an emphasis on traffic design and analysis (traffic control, signing, and pavement markings, traffic impact studies, operational and safety analyses, capacity analysis, forecasting, etc.). • Lead and oversee traffic analysis efforts, including the application of industry-standard methodologies and tools to evaluate existing and future conditions, identify mitigation strategies, and support data-driven transportation design decisions. • Lead the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) packages, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with agency standards. • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients; develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and collaboration. • Lead and contribute to technical proposals, scopes, and fee estimates for traffic and transportation design opportunities. • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support for career growth. • Monitor budgets, schedules, and deliverables, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. • Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders to support integrated transportation solutions. Required Skills and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred). • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain within 6 months). • Ten (10)+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering • Proven track record of successful project management and client interaction. • Proficient in design software and tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD or similar. • Strong understanding of PennDOT/PTC/City of Philadelphia standards and guidelines. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
