RBC specializes in complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives that require senior leadership, disciplined execution, and accountability under fixed-fee government contracts. Position Overview The Primary Account Lead serves as the senior, day-to-day point of contact for a multi-year university research and public communications engagement. This role is responsible for client coordination, continuity of leadership, internal integration, and ensuring that communications and project activities remain aligned with institutional priorities and scientific milestones. This position supports a long-term, fixed-fee public-sector contract. Workload may fluctuate based on project phase, stakeholder engagement, and milestone activity. Success is measured by outcomes, responsiveness, and quality—not hourly output. This position is contingent upon contract award. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the primary liaison between RBC and university leadership, principal investigators, and project stakeholders • Maintain consistent senior-level engagement throughout the full project lifecycle (36 months) • Coordinate internally with project management, communications strategy, and quality assurance leadership • Ensure alignment between public-facing communications and institutional, scientific, and regulatory expectations • Support planning and execution of communications activities during high-visibility milestones and public engagement periods • Identify emerging risks, issues, or sensitivities and escalate appropriately • Represent RBC in recurring coordination meetings and ad hoc leadership discussions Workload & Performance Expectations • This is a project-based, outcome-driven role under a fixed-fee government contract • Weekly workload may vary depending on project phase and activity level • Increased effort may be required during key milestones, public announcements, or issue-management situations • Continuous availability and responsiveness are essential to success in this role Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred • 8+ years of experience in client engagement, public-sector communications, project coordination, or related leadership roles • Demonstrated experience working with universities, government agencies, or research institutions • Proven ability to manage senior-level client relationships across long-term engagements • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to operate effectively in a fixed-fee, deadline-driven environment Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting scientific, environmental, infrastructure, or research-based initiatives • Familiarity with public-sector communications review and approval processes • Experience working in matrixed teams with multiple stakeholders What We Offer • Competitive salary commensurate with experience • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical and retirement options, available following the initial onboarding period • Opportunity to support a high-visibility, public-interest research initiative • Long-term project stability with variable, engaging work • Collaborative, senior-led team environment Compensation Salary Range: $130,000 – $165,000 (Exempt) Compensation for this role is offered within a salary range of $130,000 to $165,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to fulfill the role’s senior-level responsibilities. This is an exempt, salaried position. Compensation is not based on hours worked and reflects the level of responsibility, accountability, and expertise required for successful performance.
