Compensation$70K - 130K a year

Lead architecture and development of a React Native app, collaborate on full-stack features, and mentor engineers. | 8+ years experience with React, Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, mobile app deployment, and accessibility focus. | Propelus® simplifies workforce compliance management across healthcare. Our innovative technology and strategic partnerships empower millions of professionals, their employers, and regulators to work together, creating a connected and efficient healthcare ecosystem. As a trusted leader for over 20 years, Propelus has focused on bringing more good into the lives of the people and organizations serving healthcare. We deliver seamless compliance solutions to millions. We leverage market-leading technology and essential data to simplify complex operations, reduce risk, and champion a safer, healthier, and happier workforce. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be a hands-on technical leader who ships. Your main mission for the year ahead is to design, build, and launch our React Native companion app and get it into the App Store and Google Play. You'll work independently where it counts and alongside our web, API, and design teams to bring our compliance platform to mobile. You'll own features from end to end across a unified TypeScript stack, and you'll set the bar for quality, accessibility, and reliability along the way. We have built a large-scale compliance platform for licensed professionals. It runs on a cloud-native monorepo with a unified TypeScript stack. We work in a regulated space, so ADA compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA) and solid engineering matter here in a concrete way: real people use this to keep their licenses and their jobs. What success looks like in your first year Our React Native companion app is live in the App Store and Google Play, and licensed professionals are actually using it. The mobile app shares logic and types with our web platform instead of forking into a second codebase. The app holds the same accessibility and reliability bar as everything else we ship. The engineers around you do better mobile and full-stack work because of the patterns and reviews you put in place. What you'll do Own the React Native companion app from architecture through app-store release, instrumentation, and the iteration that follows launch. Work side by side with the web application team to build out new features for both web and mobile. Ship full-stack features across accessible React UIs, type-safe APIs, and a GraphQL layer over several data stores, from first design to production. Weigh architectural trade-offs and explain them clearly to both technical and non-technical people, so engineering decisions stay tied to business goals. Stay accountable for what you ship. That includes instrumentation, handling incidents, and the analysis afterward. Make the team better through careful code reviews, mentoring, and sharing what you know. Improve how we deliver software: our testing frameworks, our CI/CD pipelines, and the tooling that gets in everyone's way when it's not right. What you bring to the team You've built and shipped mobile apps to the App Store and Google Play (React Native strongly preferred), and you know what app review, release, and the messy weeks afterward actually take. Deep hands-on full-stack experience with React, Node.js, TypeScript, and modern cloud-native development. You're still the person who writes the hard code. Strong system-design instincts. You think about reliability, scalability, how things fail, and what a codebase feels like to maintain years later, and you build with that in mind. Real production experience with AWS, modern CI/CD, observability, and running the systems you build. Comfort tuning data access across relational, NoSQL, and search systems. A track record of setting technical direction and mentoring engineers on a collaborative, asynchronous, distributed team. Good judgment about when to pay down technical debt and when to keep shipping. Experience building accessible web applications (WCAG 2.1 AA) On seniority: the experience above usually adds up to something like 8 or more years building and running production systems. We care more about what you can do than the exact number. Nice to have Familiarity with our stack: oRPC/tRPC, Pulumi and Better Auth Native mobile experience (iOS or Android) alongside React Native. Prior work in accessibility-critical or heavily regulated environments. Technologies you'll use Mobile: React Native (the companion app is a core part of this role) Frontend: React 19, TanStack (Router, Query, Form), Tailwind CSS, Figma Design System, WCAG 2.1 AA Backend: Fastify, TypeScript, oRPC, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis Cloud and infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, SQS, SES, S3, Fargate, RDS, Secrets Manager), Pulumi, GitHub Actions Quality and operations: Vitest, Playwright, OpenTelemetry, Turborepo, pnpm AI-assisted development: Claude Code, Copilot Benefits and Perks for Propelus employees include but are not limited to: Awarded one of BuiltIn's 2025 Best Places to Work and honored as a Silver Stevie® Award Winner in the 2025 Stevie Awards For Great Employers. Professional development allowance to help you grow in the ways that mean the most to you. Flexibility for balancing work with the rest of life and ample PTO, including paid time off for volunteering, your birthday, and becoming a new parent. Compensation$70K - 110K a year

Lead end-to-end design and redesign of application experiences including user research and production-ready front-end code. | 4 to 7 years UX/product design experience with React, Tailwind CSS, AI-assisted design tools, strong portfolio, and deep WCAG accessibility knowledge. Overview | We are looking for a UX Engineer who designs and ships. This is a design-leaning hybrid role: you own the user experience end to end, from research and interaction design through high-fidelity, production-ready front-end. You will spend most of your time in design and UX, and you will use Claude Design or similar AI tools to turn your designs into working code that engineers can build on without a traditional handoff. This role sits on the Product team and focuses on our CE Broker professional application and marketplace and our Evercheck HR compliance tools. You will partner closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to create intuitive, accessible interfaces that drive real business outcomes. As a Level III individual contributor, you are expected to lead design-engineering discussions and raise the quality bar across the work you own. The work happens in regulated healthcare contexts, so accessibility, clarity, and trust are not optional. The best candidate treats them as core craft. Core Responsibilities | This role includes but is not limited to: Lead the design and redesign of full application experiences across CE Broker from early research through shipped UI. Conduct and synthesize user research with product managers to understand user needs, identify pain points, and translate insights into design decisions. Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile, and validate them with real users before build. Build production-quality front-end code for your designs using React and Tailwind CSS, with a focus on reliability, accessibility, and performance. Use Claude Design to move from design to working code quickly, and review that output for quality, edge cases, and maintainability before it reaches engineering. Own and extend our design system: components, tokens, patterns, and documentation that keep the experience consistent across products. Lead design-engineering discussions and contribute to decisions about interaction patterns, component architecture, and design system direction. Ensure ADA and accessibility compliance and front-end best practices across everything you ship. Stay current on UX, front-end, and AI tooling trends, and bring back what is worth adopting. Qualifications & Expertise | 4 to 7 years of experience as a UX/product designer with a strong portfolio of shipped products. Demonstrated ability to lead full application design and redesign projects end to end. Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools. Experience with Figma is a plus. Front-end development skills using React and Tailwind CSS, with the ability to produce production-ready code. Fluency with AI-assisted design and coding tools, including Claude Design, and sound judgment about when to rely on AI output and when to refine it by hand. This is a core expectation of the role, not a nice-to-have. Experience building and maintaining design systems. A strong grasp of user-centered design, product thinking, and how design connects to business strategy. Understanding of ADA compliance and accessibility standards (WCAG). Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design and technical decisions clearly to designers, engineers, and product partners. Benefits and Perks for Propelus employees include but are not limited to: Awarded one of BuiltIn's 2025 Best Places to Work and honored as a Silver Stevie® Award Winner in the 2025 Stevie Awards For Great Employers. Professional development allowance to help you grow in the ways that mean the most to you.
