Role: As a Senior Software Engineer on Intelligent Tooling, you will build and operate internal systems that empower non engineering teams to automate their workflows with AI. You will own the product and platform layer for internal tools, including the constraints and infrastructure that keep those tools safe and maintainable. There's no existing playbook for this at Plaid. You will define what the right non-eng AI surface looks like, ship its first durable versions, and partner closely with internal users to make sure it solves real problems. Role As a Staff Software Engineer on Instant Access, you'll set technical foundations for autonomous systems that operate directly in production. This is a hands-on role that combines deep technical leadership with implementation. We build the storage layer backing Plaid’s Core Data Models used by all of engineering. The goal is to evolve Plaid’s storage systems to be more reliable, scalable, performant, and efficient. As an engineer on the storage team, you will have the opportunity to influence the strategy of the team and design, deploy, and scale the online storage platform at Plaid. You will build services and tools to improve operation automations. You will optimize query performance and infrastructure cost. You will wield terraform and cloud resources with confidence and certainty. You will partner with our stakeholder teams to understand their current storage and future storage requirements. As an Engineering Manager, you will manage a growing team of engineers to bring to reimagine and scale our Credit Dashboard. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering partners in day-to-day execution on complex projects. Additionally, you will contribute to a long term product and technical. You’ll directly grow engineers on your team, developing growth plans and accelerating their career trajectory. You’ll get deeply involved in the technical details of your team, driving design decisions and even shipping code if the team needs it. Responsibilities • Working on Credit products – Plaid’s top product priority – balancing foundational initiatives with product objectives • Mentoring and guiding experienced engineers • Setting long-term team strategy • Collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to translate product and compliance requirements into revenue-driving products Qualifications • 2+ years of engineering management experience with significant experience as a software engineer • Experience owning a production product and working with a product manager and/or business partners to drive business impact • Deep experience with backend architecture and systems • Track record of building and growing high performing engineering teams $214,801 - $366,000 a year The target base salary for this position ranges from $214,800/year to $366,000/year [in Zone 1, in Zone 4 or encompassing all Zones]. The target base salary will vary based on the job's location. Our geographic zones are as follows: Zone 1 - New York City and San Francisco Bay Area Zone 2 - Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington D.C. Zone 3 - Austin, Boston, Denver, Houston, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego Zone 4 - Raleigh-Durham and all other US cities Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered.
