Develop and maintain scalable Ruby on Rails web applications with API integrations and frontend components. | 6-8+ years Ruby on Rails experience, strong backend and frontend skills, test-driven development, and good communication. | PeerSource is currently recruiting for a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer on a Contract basis for our client in Atlanta, GA. Although someone local to the area would be preferred, we also would consider someone primarily remote from anywhere in the CT/ET time zone. No third parties. Summary We are seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to build and enhance production web applications in a highly collaborative environment. This role will focus on scalable backend development, API integrations, background processing, and modern frontend technologies while leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery and quality. Candidates should be comfortable communicating technical tradeoffs, surfacing risks early, and contributing to a test-driven engineering culture. Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain scalable production web applications using Ruby on Rails. • Develop and optimize database models, queries, and integrations leveraging ActiveRecord and PostgreSQL. • Build and support frontend functionality using React and TypeScript with a focus on maintainable component architecture and strong typing practices. • Implement and maintain background processing workflows (e.g., Sidekiq or similar), ensuring idempotency, resiliency, and retry safety. • Develop and maintain integrations with third-party systems through APIs, GraphQL and/or JSON services, and secure webhook implementations. • Contribute to a test-first engineering culture with an emphasis on integration testing and application reliability. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate technical tradeoffs, proactively identify risks, and deliver scalable solutions. • Support performance, observability, and debugging efforts across backend and frontend systems. Required Skills • 6-8+ years of experience building production web applications with extensive expertise in Ruby on Rails. Prior experience with Java would be a nice to have, but not required. • Experience with AI-assisted development tools, preferably Claude Console. • Strong experience with ActiveRecord, with experience across PostgreSQL, React, and TypeScript. • Experience with background processing frameworks (e.g., Sidekiq or similar), API integrations, GraphQL and/or JSON services, and secure webhooks. • Familiarity with multi-tenant applications supporting multiple user personas and modern frontend tooling such as esbuild and Tailwind. • Understanding of observability, performance optimization, and security fundamentals including SQL injection prevention, XSS, authentication, and authorization frameworks (e.g., Devise, Pundit, JWT). • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical tradeoffs and surface risks proactively. This role is based out of Philadelphia, PA but open to remote with frequent travel. Summary We are seeking a highly strategic and externally facing Chief Product & Technology Officer to lead both product and engineering functions for a growing B2B software organization. This executive will define and execute the long-term product vision, drive AI innovation, and align technology strategy with a clear path toward a future exit. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of engineering depth, product leadership, and commercial acumen, and is comfortable serving as the public-facing voice of the company. Responsibilities • Define and own the end-to-end product and technology strategy, including long-term roadmap, platform evolution, and AI-driven innovation initiatives. • Lead and integrate product management, UI/UX, and global engineering teams, including oversight of a distributed organization across the US, UK, and India. • Serve as the external face of the company for product and technology, engaging with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders. • Establish and drive the AI product strategy, advancing early-stage capabilities into scalable, revenue-generating solutions. • Partner with executive leadership to shape the company’s exit strategy, aligning product vision and technology investments to maximize enterprise value. • Translate market needs and industry trends (particularly in wholesale, distribution, and eCommerce/PIM domains) into actionable product direction. • Collaborate with their Engineering Leader to ensure high-quality execution, scalable architecture, and operational excellence. • Lead platform modernization efforts, including legacy system evolution and next-generation architecture initiatives. Required Skills • 10-15 years of experience in product and engineering leadership roles, with progression into executive-level responsibility (e.g., CPTO, CTO, CPO, or similar) for at least a $50M+ company. • Proven recent experience leading both product and engineering functions within a B2B SaaS environment. • Industry background is highly preferred: Building and scaling B2B eCommerce, PIM, or wholesale/distribution software products. • Hands-on familiarity with modern AI technologies along with experience contributing to or launching AI-enabled products in the past year. • Demonstrated ability to define product vision, roadmap strategy, and align technical execution with commercial outcomes. • Experience leading global, distributed teams and managing senior leaders across multiple regions. • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, boards, and investors. • Experience supporting M&A, fundraising, or exit planning. • Familiarity with platform modernization and multi-tenant architectures. • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
