Oversee two teams, Journeys and Notifications, while collaborating closely with engineers to refine technical specifications and improve team performance. Manage team execution and delivery, coordinate with product teams, and define product analytics strategy. | Candidates should have 5+ years of engineering management experience and 6+ years of hands-on software development experience. About The Team: This role will oversee two of our teams here at OneSignal: Journeys and Notifications. What You'll Do: Collaborate closely with engineers to refine technical specifications, facilitate productive conversation, document architectural decisions and improve individual contributor velocity Build a high-performing team - enable your direct reports to do their best work and recruit great new talent Maintain team execution and delivery (e.g. resource planning, define user stories, groom sprints, etc.) Coordinate with relevant product and platform teams to deliver on objectives and create winning long-term strategies Manage your engineers’ career growth, including performance management, promotions and feedback Define product analytics strategy and collaborate with data scientists to measure success of delivered features Work cross-functionally to efficiently resolve issues and ensure the system scales smoothly to meet the demands of our customers. What You'll Bring: 5+ years of engineering management experience 6+ years of hands-on software development experience Experience working on high scale distributed systems Experience managing 10+ engineers Good product sense and strong sense of customer empathy Experience owning a product line end-to-end and delivering on your own roadmap History of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive business impact Passion for fostering high-performing teams and building positive relationships with technical leaders across organization The New York and California base salary for this full-time position is between $220,000 to $230,000. Your exact starting salary is determined by a number of factors such as your experience, skills, and qualifications. About The Team: The Email team at OneSignal develops the UI and API powering our market-leading email services. This product-focused team builds out scalable solutions to complex problems such as campaign warmups, message personalization, and link tracking. We’re continually improving our product to enhance our customers’ experience and empower them to create effective and impactful messaging campaigns. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be expected to take ownership of end-to-end projects that require developing in multiple languages across the stack. Your ability to consider performance characteristics, user experience, and maintainability of systems will be critical to success in this role. Your contributions will shape the way household brand names engage with their users. You will drive organizational proficiencies in key technologies and technical areas, such as scalable architecture and programming language expertise. What You'll Do: Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to implement new features for our Customer Engagement products, using TypeScript, Ruby, and Rust. Conduct code and specification reviews, providing technical insights to improve our features and code base Resolve production reliability issues and ensure the system scales to meet the demands of our customers Refactor components on the frontend, creating extensible, reusable and clean component architecture Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, incorporating new ideas into our engineering processes Present technical specifications to other engineers, drive alignment on proposed solutions, and prototype draft implementations What You'll Bring: 6+ years of professional software development experience Experience creating extensible, reusable React components Experience with TypeScript and at least one system programming language (Rust, Go, Ruby, etc) Ability to own and deliver end to end software functionality from design/architecture, through implementation, testing, production, release, and monitoring Ability to manage complex cross-team coordination and work closely with product owners Familiarity with frontend code-testing tools like react-testing-library, cypress, and storybook Ability to evaluate and communicate different engineering solutions and trade-offs A strong willingness to learn new technologies rapidly Experience designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs We value a variety of experiences, and these are not required.
