Lead audience growth, engagement, and retention strategies across newsletters, memberships, and mobile applications. | 5+ years in digital, growth, or lifecycle marketing with proficiency in paid media platforms and analytics tools. | Job Description : We are seeking a Senior Manager, Consumer Marketing – Newsletters, Memberships & Apps to lead audience growth, engagement, and retention strategies across our newsletter portfolio, free membership offerings, and suite of mobile applications. This role will be responsible for driving subscriber acquisition and lifecycle marketing initiatives that scale high-quality audiences while maintaining strong engagement and retention performance. You will partner closely with editorial, creative, product, analytics, and external partners to execute data-informed growth strategies across paid, owned, earned, and partnership channels. The ideal candidate combines performance marketing expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and cross-functional collaboration skills with a passion for media, audience growth, and consumer engagement. Key Responsibilities: Growth Strategy & Audience Acquisition ● Develop and execute full-funnel growth strategies to drive acquisition for newsletters, membership offerings, and mobile apps ● Manage a balanced channel mix across paid and organic acquisition tactics, including digital advertising, owned platforms, partnerships, and referral programs ● Identify new opportunities to scale qualified audiences while maintaining efficiency and engagement quality Paid Media Planning & Optimization ● Plan, execute, and optimize acquisition campaigns across channels such as Meta, LinkedIn, search engine marketing, sponsored newsletters, and other relevant platforms ● Manage budgets, pacing, and performance against key growth targets ● Partner with external agencies, consultants, or vendors as needed to support campaign execution and scale Creative Campaign Development ● Collaborate with internal creative and marketing partners to develop effective campaign concepts and assets ● Write creative briefs that clearly define campaign goals, audiences, messaging, and performance objectives ● Ensure creative assets align with brand standards and are optimized for channel performance Partnership Marketing ● Develop and manage strategic partnerships that support audience acquisition, awareness, and engagement goals ● Identify opportunities for co-marketing, list growth, referral exchanges, and other mutually beneficial initiatives ● Track performance and optimize partnership outcomes over time Referral & Organic Growth Programs ● Lead referral and advocacy programs designed to encourage existing users and subscribers to share products with new audiences ● Manage referral tools, incentives, and testing strategies to increase word-of-mouth growth Performance Analysis & Reporting ● Analyze campaign and channel performance to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement ● Use data and testing insights to refine targeting, messaging, creative, and lifecycle strategies ● Present recommendations and results to internal stakeholders on a regular basis Lifecycle Marketing & Retention ● Own post-signup engagement strategies, including onboarding and automated lifecycle journeys ● Optimize welcome series, re-engagement flows, and retention campaigns to improve long-term engagement and audience value ● Partner with editorial and product teams to support ongoing audience engagement initiatives Cross-Functional Collaboration ● Work closely with editorial, product, analytics, creative, and business teams to align marketing initiatives with broader company priorities ● Support integrated planning across channels and departments to maximize growth opportunities ● Partner with editorial to align content with audience needs. ● Work with ad sales to execute sponsorships and campaigns. Requirements: ● 5+ years of experience in digital marketing, growth marketing, lifecycle marketing, or audience development ● Experience managing acquisition and retention campaigns across multiple digital channels ● Background in media, publishing, subscription, app-based, or consumer-facing businesses preferred ● Strong knowledge of paid media platforms, campaign optimization, and performance marketing principles ● Experience with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Looker, Tableau, or similar tools ● Familiarity with email service providers (ESPs), CRM systems, and marketing automation platforms ● Ability to translate performance data into actionable recommendations ● Strong project management and organizational skills ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: ● Experience with newsletter growth, app user acquisition, and direct response marketing ● Familiarity with referral marketing platforms and lifecycle testing strategies ● Experience working with editorial or content-driven organizations ● Understanding of subscription or membership business models Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. Base Pay Range: 110,000 - 120,000 + Bonus We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. Based in Sacramento and reporting to the News Editor, this role demands deep knowledge of California politics, a robust network of top-tier political contacts, and an unwavering commitment to holding those in power accountable. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of breaking major political stories in California and a reputation for delivering scoops that drive the conversation. As both a team leader and collaborator, the Politics Editor will work closely with the News Editor, Editor-in-Chief, and a team of political reporters in Sacramento. In addition to exceptional news judgment and analytical skills, the State Politics Editor must be adept at working seamlessly across digital and print platforms, ensuring our reporting reaches the widest possible audience.
