Lead cloud-based software engineering strategy and execution, managing teams and driving innovation for scalable SaaS products. | Requires 8+ years in software engineering, 5+ years leadership, cloud platform expertise, and certifications in AWS or similar. | Overview As Director of Product & Software Engineering, Cloud, you lead the strategic direction and execution of our cloud-based software initiatives, driving innovation and engineering excellence across high-performing teams. You will collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional partners to align cloud strategies with business objectives, ensuring our SaaS products are scalable, secure, and deliver exceptional customer value. In this pivotal role, you will champion modernization, automation, and cost optimization, implement DevOps and CI/CD best practices, and oversee the full software development lifecycle—from concept to release.  You will inspire and develop engineering talent, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and integrate emerging technologies to keep our platforms resilient and future-ready. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our cloud transformation, optimizing resources, and delivering measurable impact for our organization and customers. Responsibilities • Defines and executes cloud engineering strategy aligned with overall cloud and SaaS product goals, ensuring integration with the company’s technology roadmap and business objectives • Implements Infrastructure-As-Code (IaC), DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines to automate and optimize cloud operations and software delivery • Identifies and implements product performance metrics, proactive optimization strategies, and establishes observability and KPIs for continuous improvement • Partners on operations practices for cloud cost management and forecasting, manages departmental budget, and optimizes resource allocation including oversight of third-party vendors and outsourced engineering work • Leads and develops engineering teams, manages multiple concurrent projects, and oversees talent management (recruitment, coaching, performance evaluation, succession planning) • Partners and collaborates with product, architecture, engineering, and cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions into SaaS offerings and ensure alignment with business and technical objectives • Champions innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices in cloud software development, including robust testing and quality assurance for reliable, scalable solutions • Directs cloud-based software engineering across the full development lifecycle, including end-to-end release management to ensure efficient, reliable delivery of cloud products • Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, and standards for high-quality software products, including disaster recovery, backup, and data protection Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong understanding of cloud security, data architecture, compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC 2), and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) • Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills for enterprise-scale cloud operations, with a proven ability to mentor engineering teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders • Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps), programming languages (Java, NodeJS, Python, Angular, React), and proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD automation • Strong understanding of AWS serverless services (ex: Lambda, Redshift, API Gateway, DynamoDB) and AI (ex: Bedrock, Claude) • Understanding and knowledge of multi-cloud strategies and hybrid architectures Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Familiarity with FinOps and cloud cost optimization tools (CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer) Required Experience: • 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering • 5 years in leadership roles • Demonstrated success in SaaS or product-driven organizations • Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum methodologies • Track record of leading modernization initiatives across legacy and cloud environments, including AI/ML integratio • Experience implementing cloud strategies for scalable SaaS products Preferred Experience: • 4+ years of hands-on AWS experience • Experience in high-growth SaaS environments • Exposure to financial operations, cloud financial governance, and vendor management • Healthcare industry experience Required Training, Certification and Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cloud Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience • Certification in software engineering - AWS Certified Developer Preferred Training, Certification and Education: • Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Cloud Computing, or Technology Leadership, or a related field or equivalent work experience • Certifications: • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect • FinOps Certified Practitioner • PMP or SAFe Program Consultant for leadership roles Working Conditions: • Must be able to use equipment at workstation, in an indoor environment, for up to 8 hours daily • Remote/Home office • Ability to travel up to 10% Benefits Overview  At NASCO, we trust our workforce to be fully remote, working from their home.
