Senior Systems Engineer Duties and Responsibilities Be Fanatically awesome all the time! Be an active advocate for customer satisfaction Provide technical excellence t for systems, software, and hardware Document/Update internal Kb’s, SOP’s, Wiki’s Ask educated questions and listen to customers to determine the root cause of issues Work through the problem-solving process with customers, empowering them to do the same in the future Participate in training incoming staff Report significant and recurring issues Participate in the After Hours Escalation on-call rotation Senior Systems Engineer Requirements and Qualifications Proven experience as a senior technical engineer, preferably in an MSP Environment Ability to diagnose and resolve advanced issues Excellent communication skills Keen attention to detail, the memory of patterns, and interest in problem-solving Consistently demonstrate the MyITcrew Core Values and meet standard metrics Current Microsoft, Azure or cloud computing, CCNA certifications or equivalent Advanced skills in the management of Active Directory Domain environments Proficient in networking, for both on-premise and cloud-based networks. Design and deliver complex IT infrastructure projects and lead technical onboarding for new clients. | Experienced engineer managing full project lifecycle with expertise in networking, cloud, and MSP best practices. | Location: Brooklyn, NY/Remote Department: Project Team Reports to: Project Manager Job Summary: The Senior Infrastructure Project Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and delivering complex IT projects that fall outside standard managed services agreements. This role combines strong technical execution with ownership of project design, documentation, timelines, and budgets. The Senior Infrastructure Project Engineer ensures projects are delivered according to best practices, aligned with client requirements, and ready for seamless handoff to the service team. Key Responsibilities: Client Onboarding & Discovery Lead technical onboarding, discovery, and environment assessments for new clients Standardize client environments to MSP best practices (M365, Azure AD, AD, security, backups, monitoring) Ensure environments are fully documented and integrated into internal systems Act as the technical lead through onboarding until transition to steady-state support Project Design & Planning Design technical solutions that meet client business needs Create clear scopes of work, estimates, and project work plans Define project phases, tasks, dependencies, resources, and checklists Identify risks, dependencies, and out-of-scope work early Project Implementation Execute projects according to approved plans and standards Track project progress, hours, and scope alignment Identify and escalate change order needs when scope changes Deliver secure, scalable, and supportable solutions Network & Infrastructure Engineering Design and implement network, server, cloud, and migration projects Work across routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless, and hybrid environments Assess existing environments and recommend improvements Documentation & Standards Maintain accurate project documentation, diagrams, and ticket notes Ensure documentation is complete and usable for service and support teams Contribute to standardized templates, checklists, and project processes Leadership & Collaboration Mentor junior engineers during project work Coordinate with Project Managers, Account Managers, and Client Success teams Provide feedback on recurring issues and process improvements What Success Looks Like Projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with best practices. Clients receive clean, well-documented, and support-ready environments. Work plans are clear, repeatable, and easy to execute. Strong collaboration exists across project, service, and account teams.
