Position Summary The Medical Assistant provides support to the physician, physician extender and the patient for patient care services. Collaborates with physicians, physician extender and all other clinical staff to optimize a positive patient experience, improve efficiency and work flow. The Medical Assistant is an advocate on behalf of the practice and the patient with outside healthcare facilities and ancillary agencies involving the patient’s care, required services, durable medical equipment and the patient insurance carrier. Duties and Responsibilities • Direct patients to examination rooms during clinic days to ensure efficient patient flow. • Ensure examination rooms are cleaned and stocked between patients, and thoroughly cleaned and restocked at the end of each day. • Collect specimens, sterilize instruments as needed, and remove staples, sutures, and external fixation devices as directed by the physician. • Assist the physician with various procedures as required. • Interview patients, measure vital signs, weight, and height, and accurately record this information in patient charts. • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations. • Clean and sterilize medical instruments. • Draw injections, administer treatments, and perform routine laboratory tests. • Enter patient and office data into computer systems to maintain accurate records. • Apply and remove casts, splints, and dressings as ordered by the physician. Prepare and fit orthopedic bracing devices and durable medical equipment (DME). • Instruct patients on the care and management of casts, splints, dressings, and DME. • Monitor and respond to patient messages effectively. • Provide support on the clinical phone line for all patient-related clinical inquiries • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the smooth operation of the clinic. Position Summary The Clinical Support Assistant provides vital support to the clinical team with a strong focus on clinical phone triage. This position manages patient calls within the clinical queue, documents patient interactions accurately, and ensures timely and appropriate follow-up by the care team. In addition, the role supports basic clinical functions such as rooming patients, obtaining vitals, and assisting with cast removal and exam room preparation to maintain smooth clinic operations. Duties and Responsibilities • Manage calls in the clinical queue by triaging patient symptoms, questions, and requests according to established protocols. • Document phone triage interactions clearly and accurately in the EMR and route patient cases to the appropriate provider or department. • Assist with rooming patients, obtaining vitals, preparing exam rooms, and supporting minor clinical procedures (e.g., cast removal, splint removal). • Maintain exam rooms and medical supply inventory, ensuring equipment and materials are organized, stocked, and readily available. • Maintain clinic readiness, cleanliness, and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. • Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and clinical operations. Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. • Previous healthcare, clinical assistant, or administrative support experience preferred. • Orthopaedic or specialty clinic experience a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities • Assess Patient Health: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health, including physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations. • Issue Prescriptions: Prescribe appropriate medications and administer treatments as needed, following medical guidelines. • Communication with Physicians: Inform physicians of any discrepancies, complications, or concerns that arise during patient care. • Patient History Review: Acquire and review comprehensive patient histories to inform treatment plans and medical decisions. • Monitor Progress: Track patients' progress, documenting treatments, surgeries, and other medical events in their records. • Prepare for Examinations: Prepare patients for examinations, surgeries, or other procedures, ensuring they understand the process and feel comfortable. • Routine Procedures: Conduct routine medical procedures and assist in more complex medical interventions as required. • Patient Care: Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion, ensuring patients feel supported and cared for throughout their treatment. • Regulatory Compliance: Strictly adhere to medical care regulations, safety standards, and ethical practices in all aspects of patient care. • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide coordinated and comprehensive care. Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications • Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program • State of Michigan Physician Assistant licensure • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License • Proven work experience as a Physician Assistant. Preference for candidates with previous pain management experience. • Demonstrated knowledge of medical guidelines, examination procedures, therapy, and recovery processes. • Familiarity with advancements in medical technology and ability to integrate them into patient care. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. • Caring and compassionate demeanor, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.
