Assist in fabrication support tasks including lifting, loading, cleaning, grinding, and maintaining production standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. | High school diploma or equivalent, 3-6 months manufacturing or warehouse experience, ability to operate forklifts and cranes (certification preferred), and ability to follow safety and operational instructions. | Job Summary The Production Helper is responsible for assisting workers engaged in the fabrication of structural or metal products by performing several support duties and tasks. Experience High School Diploma or equivalent, required plus 3-6 months experience. Experience in working in a manufacturing plant or warehouse. Experience in steel industry and/or galvanizing is a plus Ability to be forklift and overhead crane certified and operate a forklift and overhead crane. May not operate either until certified Qualifications As a Production Helper, for the electric utility transmission, substation, and distribution industry, the ideal incumbent possesses the: Knowledge of electric and pneumatic hand tools Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to effectively communicate in English – both reading and writing Ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality Ability to work required overtime, as required Ability to following instructions and the Leadsman’s directions Responsibilities Ability to maintain performance standards and meet production and quality expectations. Ability to lift, position, and remove workpieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding Ability to load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck Ability to cleans and scrape metal being prepared to and from the fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping areas; and, ability to clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Ability to picks up scraps from work areas; and, ability to load and unload trucks Ability to grind burrs from holes on various parts; and, ability to grind sharp corners from material Ability to assist fellow employees, as directed; and, ability to perform other duties as assigned Current Shift Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM with Saturday, as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS • Maximum shop exposure • Exposure to extreme temperatures • No travel required PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires long hours of standing, squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, being near moving equipment, and exposure to change of temperature or humidity, including dust, fumes, or gases. Safely handle, move, store, and distribute materials using forklifts and overhead cranes while maintaining accurate inventory and complying with safety standards. | High school diploma or equivalent, forklift experience required, ability to pass background checks and physical tests, strong organizational and safety skills. | Job Summary The Inventory Handler is responsible for storing, moving, handling and distributing materials. They take materials from one location to another and may be involved in the process of extracting and loading the materials to be transported. An inventory handler has a very structured work environment to minimize safety risks. Each job is planned in detail and safety issues are addressed before a job begins. Working as a inventory handler doesn't require formal education but does entail on-the-job training. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • High School diploma or equivalent, required. • Experience in working in steel industry or inventory, a plus. • Ability to be forklift and overhead crane certified and operate a forklift and overhead crane. (Forklift experience required). RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform daily operations and forklift safety checks, including battery, seat belt, brakes, life control and fire extinguisher. • Identifies many types of raw material, in process or finished product, equipment, or processing materials. • Checks identification of materials to be moved. Crossreferences with production schedule or shipping schedule to ensure accuracy. • Proceeds safely to assigned area to pull load and move materials to correct work area. • Reports inconsistencies or problems to supervisors • Receive, document, store, stage and issue all job related material to satisfy production requirements. • Support assembly / fabrication requirements, as necessary. • Assist operators in delivering Fabrication parts in order to maximize department efficiency. • Remove and distribute empty pallets and buckets as needed. • Select, prepare & update paperwork and schedules both on paper and computer. • Package, create and band equipment, parts, materials, products and accessories to minimize damage during shipment or staging and to create a safe work environment. • Apply labels, stickers, and stencils as required for identification and ease of storage or shipping. • Comply with all safety requirements including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals. Keep assigned workarea clean, organized, and orderly per 5S standards. • Operates overhead hoists and forklifts to move material and necessary equipment to perform machine operations. Will arrange parts as needed for production and deliver raw stock, partially completed work, and completed jobs to appropriate storage or production areas. • Maintain accurate inventory, reporting shortages/overages and supply needs to supervisor. Ability to grind burrs from holes on various parts; and ability to grind sharp corners from material. • Ability to assist fellow employees, as directed; and ability to perform other workrelated duties as assigned.
