The lab is built to experiment relentlessly and pivot quickly, so this role demands urgency and a bias toward action. New wide-reaching and audience-rich brands will launch quickly, and the managing director, who will report directly to the senior vice president of the lab, will assist in recruitment, hiring and content direction. The managing director will be on the ground floor with the lab's new national and regional communities of interest to ensure a steady stream of reader-focused, high-quality content. The managing director needs to lead with energy, ideas and clarity, spinning up dozens of competitive and ambitious teams focused on giving well-defined audiences relevant, credible and abundant content around their data-signaled passion topics. This leader needs to be fluent in both audience analytics and editorial judgment. The lab will collaborate closely with McClatchy colleagues in revenue, marketing and across the company. Every decision – where to invest, which franchises to launch, which to wind down, how to allocate resources – will be grounded in audience data, with a goal of dramatically growing known users. The right candidate should have a track record of building and scaling content operations, with the focus being on experimentation, outcomes and results. They should have demonstrated success not just in managing employees but in implementing successful workflows and deploying AI and emerging tools in production environments. What you'll bring: • The position requires a combination of knowledge and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree, including education, experience, skills, and knowledge necessary to perform the job. • 5+ years of management experience leading content teams and driving results. What we'll bring: • The anticipated base salary range for this position is between 160k - 200k annually. Manage office supplies, mail, IT support, facilities, scheduling, communications, and provide general onsite support to maintain smooth office operations. | Requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience, prior office coordination or administrative experience, proficiency with MS Office and basic IT troubleshooting, strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to work onsite with some remote flexibility. | The Office Operations Coordinator requires a reliable and detail-oriented individual to ensure the smooth daily functioning of our Manhattan office. This role requires a proactive individual who can balance multiple responsibilities, provide excellent internal support, and maintain a professional and efficient workplace environment. This position will be on-site at the New York City physical office and studio The anticipated base pay range for this position is between 65k and 80k annually. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography, and local wage and hours laws. Excellent communication and active listening skills. • Ability to interact professionally and build relationships and develop sources with a diverse array of people. • Ability to work well, be professional and courteous with a variety of editors, staff at all levels, and the public. • Computer proficiency (MS Office, Digital editing, web search, databases) • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends • Regular and reliable attendance. Education And Experience • Combination of knowledge and experience equivalent to a B.A. or B.S. Degree in Business or related field. • Prior experience in office coordination, facilities, or administrative operations preferred. • Should be comfortable troubleshooting basic technology/connectivity issues.
